Chuck, bummer, sorry you wont be there.

Folks, many thanks for the good words on the small ivory sticker. :)

Jon Brand, I knew you'd like this one.

That is a beautiful little knife Don. Thanks for sharing it here. I hope to see it in person at the show if you can keep it long enough.

Jerry Fisk will have this sole authorship piece at the show and after spending a few days with it in my studio, I'd suggest you check it out in person if you can. It's a great example of his work and part of his National Living Treasure series of handmade knives. This one is designated NLT#9 '10.

The mammoth ivory handle slabs may not be the most beautiful of all time but, IMHO, they are the most beautiful i've ever seen! Absolutely incredible.

There's more to admire in this particular Fisk creation and for me the blade really stands out. It's an 8 1/4 in. forged damascus blade (OAL is 13 in.) in the rare antique bowie style found in examples by Samuel Bell. That is to say it has a sharp top edge that is chisel ground. Per Jerry, "It's the only type of top edge that will reliably cut a 1 in rope."

It took a lot of control to forge and finish this excellent blade. The perfect full length taper, the junction between the blade spine and the scoop start of the chisel grind, and then finally the transition from the chisel grind to the convex spear tip - perfect execution of all three is critical to the success of this blade and it would be so easy to screw up. Jerry's blade is flawless.

We often marvel at the high level of technical competence visible in the custom knife world today and Jerry is no exception. What I see (and feel) in this blade is technical competence, plus confidence - a lot of hard-won self-confidence. I told Jerry that a bunch of his collectors will be weeping when they see this one fly away. :(

One of my favorite if not #1 NLT. Great looking knife. The ivory and engraving are beautiful. Buddy enhances the piece as usual.

Really nice, Jon

Is that Jerry's "scratching" on the knife? If so, his engraving has surely developed at a rapid rate, and certainly fits being on a knife of this caliber.

Well here is one for delivery at the show. Again sorry for the not great picture. Hunter in laddered W pattern with W pattern guard and damascus frame. Mammoth of course for the handle. Still need to do some clean up, but it is pretty much complete. There are hidden pins in the handle assembly and will be a final pin for the handle. This was a lot of fun, gave me some more grey hairs. There will be more. See you all there.

Here's another one that I will have at the show. Definately not my typical knife but hope you enjoy it anyway. 28" blade & 34" OAL. 120 layer blade & blackwood handle scales.

My thanks to Chuck Ward. This one couldn't have been easy to photograph and he did a great job with it (as always).

Wow! Don, Jerry, Brion, and Gary are bringing it to the show! I can't wait to see these beauties.

Buddy's taking a photo of a little item I'll have for sale. When he gets his magic done , I'll post it up with at least three others.

See ya'll.

John

Gary - we need a better look at that awesome sword!
