i hope for your sake the person in front of him doesn't have a firearm.

Perhaps I can shed some light as an IR scholar.

My break down: The EU is going to collapse within 15 years, though Sarkozy will likely have to not be in power in France for the crap to actually hit the fan (he isn't much of a hardliner). That puts us after 2012. It is likely that Germany and France will be at eachothers throats once again, but this time, Germany is a bit more sensible and is going to whoop some butt.

The U.S. is facing an economic downfall of unprecedented proportions. We are looking at 16 months to 24 months until the economy takes a much much larger dump on us all. Perhaps it is the bored political scientist in me but I feel as though this country is tearing at the seams. The conditions are right for some very serious changes to take place (e.g. successions, civil war, revolution, etc etc etc).

Probably not the end of the world, that is, unless two major powers end up going against one another and a nuke gets launched. At that point just try to find a hole because the world will be fubar.

Ha!... political science...

Just keep it vague and throw in some zombies for good measure.

The zombies will be Nazis and will attack a group of teens in Norway who are on a ski vacation and happen to stumble upon Nazi gold. The spectators and DVD sales will gross less than $2 million.

I think the ripple effect of mass migrations of large populations due to starvation and the lack of other natural resources from marginal lands in Africa and around the Pacific Rim will trigger civil unrest world wide but will ultimately trigger a stronger cohesion in the EU before there is a meltdown. This of course preventing the Nazis from finding the gold in Norway. In the US, the trickle up model of economics will be accepted and money will be injected at the lower economic levels allowing us to continue in a moderate recession for years until recovery occurs. Thereby preventing the zombie apocalypse.

While the zombies mill around doing their "i wish i had a brain" thing; legions of corrupt bright boys stampede the markets while attempting to bleed every last dollar out of the world's economy before it's all gone. Everyone freezes when some poor fool is left holding the dead goose that laid the golden eggs, and some one in the back of the crowd mutters: "that's gonna hurt."

The Eu is far too intergrated for any of that to hapen - the EURO may well fall apart but the EU I cant see it - far too expensive to dismantal and the big 3 - Frace,Germany and the UK have too much of a vested interest in each other, the only problem with the EU is the bigger countries were arogant enough to believe they could carry the poor ones along with them.

I worry more that Turkey are about to join that about europiean colapse

G'day Guys.

Whilst this has made an entertaining "hypothetical", I feel the need to say a couple of things.

TEOTWAWKi seems to be a particuarily Nth American phenonomenom.

I have enjoyed the various comments about "Zombie scenarious".

Please have a look at my previous quote from Albert Einstein to understand my thoughts about this. :D:D

For those who have commented about the need for water, I agree.

But I will ask.

Can you show me that you know how to find water that doesn't come from a tap?

How about showing me you know how to find water in the bush (in the second half of a real drought that has lasted for 5 years).

Kind regards
Mick

G'day the Corso.

Before I respond let me say, that IMO opinion, humans are nothing more than pendulums that swing from one extreme to another. Please see my first respone to this thread.

It was allowed to get way out of hand from the word go, why was the original protest undermanned by the police, knowing alot of the attendees would be gang members, why didn't they stamp on it straight away, why was there no interaction with the local community

The media have as much to blame as anyone replaying the same single burning building for 6 hours just inflamed the situation and made London look lawless and fair game.

Thy've rounded up over 1000 in London alone and most are getting jail time, they will think twice next time - obvously they weren't that bright
didn't they know its the most heavily CCTV'd city in the world - aside from the brainless ones trying on looted stuff out side the shops even those who were hooded up got caught - They just rewinded the tapes and tracked them back to their houses...

IMO, our social enginers have convinced society that Kids have "rights" without pairing these rights to responsibilities. :jerkit:

In other words we have a generation of kids who believe "they can do what ever they want & you can't touch me" :jerkit:

IMO, there are too many adults who are willing to have sex & contribute their genes to the next generation, without accepting the responsibility of being a parent and take the necessary action of setting limits on their behavior and being a positive role model. :thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:

Take solace in the fact that like all pendulums, humans will eventually swing back to the other side. And if they won't, there's enough chemical pollutants that are reducing the fertility of men to do the job for them. :D

Kind regards
Mick

Interesting thread. I don't subscribe to the "End of Times" from a religious perspective, although I'm pretty religious myself, but I'll stop there. When I look at the US and Europe pre-WW2, they were facing some pretty serious situations, we need to buck up and be strong like our parents were.

I do think that we might just knock ourselves out of existence with stupidity, although another Carrington event might take care of half of us (a very likely scenario, IMO). If the zombies come, ...

G'day Jmboz.

Let me say that your post is amoungst the best I have seen in over 8 years of browsing the internet.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

¡¡This is the funniest post in a long time!! Thanks.:D:D

I absolutely agree. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: :

As a matter of fact, I have saved www.cracked.com to my favourites on my web browser.

As I've said in the past on the curiously named "OSF" subforum over at "Mikeforums.com", I'm lucky that Zombies can't swim the Pacific Ocean, otherwise I would be in real trouble. lmfao :p

Kind regards

G'day Sodak

...... we need to buck up and be strong like our parents were.......

Do you reckon that "this" generation, as demonstrated recently in the UK, has undergone the same hardships (i.e. the same "forging" process that developed the toughness that our parents generation have shown?)

To be honest, they have been sheltered & brought up soft.

Has anyone asked themselves, how the deprivations of the great depression, prepared a generation for what was required to fight WWII?

To be honest I doubt it.:thumbdn:

...... I do think that we might just knock ourselves out of existence with stupidity, .........
You can now see why my favourite quote from Albert Einstein was my first response to this thread.

Kind regards
