mark have you used this steel to make a knife 1 1/8 round bar thanks don:thumbup:

I have forged from round rod L-6 and 52100. Never used S5... I will have to find the stats for it. All the A2 that you sent is heat treated and ready for final clean up grind.

Bill, even the burner was falling apart. Gas was leaking everywhere in the floor of the heater. Whit ran inside to get away from it!

Both kilns loaded and tempering tonight. The only 220 circuit in the shop is busy. So the KMG grinder is down. Guess I could forge at 10pm here in California. NOT!

I need another 220 circuit. I guess I can get one when I get my degree. I will be able to afford it then. I just wont need to make knives then! The irony!

Thanks for your concern. My health seems to have stabilized, so I am ok. I have made the decision to step away from the shop fulltime. Between going back to work full time, going to school and raising the family, knives are soon going to be a much smaller part of what I do. This is an economical decision.

Mark, very sorry to hear about this disaster. Not sure if it matters, but please don't feel any concern about getting my order (the maple inlaid nessmuk) sent out on any sort of timeline when you've got bigger fish to fry. All the best to you and your neighbors.

Officially back in the shop today. All my family in Joplin is safe. There are alot of people that I worked with that are injured or have lost everything. Alot to think about!
