We all have our EDC selections, but do you have some that rarely - if ever - make it out of the house?

A multitool is probably the best option for this kinda thing, but, not being a particularly handy man, I really just need a blade here and there.

These three spend about 95% of their time in my house, but I still carry 'em around:

I just picked up the schrade pocket protector for this very role. It's only 8$ and I love it. I wear gym shorts around the house and I often times sleep in those shorts and I.don't feel it. I also sleep with my esee izula on my neck.

This small fixed blade by KWB was sold as an edc, but seldom leaves the house. When it does, it's usually packed up with picnic supplies for use with small food prep tasks when we're at the pool or out for the day somewhere. For the most part, it lives in a drawer in the kitchen and gets used as an excellent little utility/prep knife. The no. 1 use is actually cutting up food for my toddler :)

Pretty mundane stuff, but hardly a day goes by that I don't grab it for something.

As I do carry my CRKs outside, I also like to carry them indoors.. especially the mnandi around the house.
My SAK, Dragonfly 2, Rat 2, and kabar 1217 are a few that never really leave the house, but I'm certain these will be with me for a very long time.

I have an acutely beveled ZDP-189 Stretch that I use solely for cardboard stationed next to the garbage cans.

This does the heavy lifting around the house. Well, in the yard as well. Hasn't left the property in years.

I keep a classic mora on the magnetic strip in the kitchen, it's my go to for slicing meat as its a real razor, but it also gets used for mundane household chores as well like opening packages or cutting up materials for random projects. I would like to edc it but I have yet to build a sheath for it.

Since I can't carry these in public here in California, these are carried in or around the house.

A few other full size autos I don't have pics of.

^ I use S&W too as great cheapo gear. Finish of all over the place but darn it they sure work when you just need a tool.

Pink Spyderco large Lum Chinese folder.

Best thing ever around the house when caution can be blown off.

I ususally wear pajamas/shorts or very light clothes around the house, so my preference are lightweight blades like these:

Both folders and fixed blades, they have to be easy to clean, short blade length and carry nicely in the pocket/around the neck.

I keep a Victorinox Electrician Alox I'm our room for little jobs around the house, but my Victorinox Climber is on me in and out of the house so it usually handles most tasks.

I like carrying a really, really lightweight knife around the house in my basketball shorts pocket.
90% of the time, this is the Spyderco Manix 2 LW in S110V, but sometimes it's a DragonFly 2 in H1.

The Manix does leave the house weekly tho... :P

Cold Steel Tuff Lite hangs on a hook in my home office, always ready and eager to open any mail, boxes, or Clam-Shell-From-Hell packaging that arises.

My Cold Steel Urban Pal (with sheath lashed to a Spyderco G Clip) almost always rides clipped to my waistband when I'm at home, regardless of what I'm wearing.

Can you tell me who makes the yellow knife?

Home is where my hardware store knives, cheap gift knives from well-meaning relatives and various "freebie" knives come out to play. The only name brand one is a Smith & Wesson that isn't good for anything rough but is suitable for opening envelopes and cutting fruit.

The big Cold Steel Hold Out I.
In the kitchen among other tasks.
Just the right tool for slaying the odd giant cinnamon cresant and cutting up salad fixings.

The Chef doesn't know I have it. I think it would freak her out. After a year of carrying it one day I will just casually begin using it in her presents. When she gives me the inevitable "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT' question I can say "Oh this little thing ? Just my pocket knife. Been carrying it a year or so now. First time you've noticed it dear ?" Then I can point out that if no lightening strike from on high has happened in all that time then perhaps it is OK and something she might possibly be able to accept and get used to.

If I suddenly stop posting then you will know she has taken me back to the pound and recycled the Hold Out for scrap. Until that dark day . . . I grin when ever I use it. I quite like it and it feels perfectly right and natural.
Is that so wrong ?
