The real solution is the 20" chainpuri. Unfortunately I own the only one I can remember H.I. having made.:p :p :p

My 21 5/8" Chitlangi is really nice at 25 ounces!!!! That's only about 1.156 ounces per inch. Not much over an ounce an inch, but excellent IMO. POB is about 3" in front of the hibake bolster.
It cuts like a much heavier khuk even when your swing is reduced by heavy brush.:)

Hey there,

Hibuke I believe my 20" Siruputi is by Kesar. Good half inch thick at the bend, and very little distal taper making it swing very tip heavy.

An 18" WWII may work well, but I found the bend kinda throws my perspective off. It minimizes the amount of spine I have for my left hand to re-inforce the blade. Not too bad, but it always makes me feel funny when Im doing my single stick work. Which is why I prefer the 18" Kobra. Its a little straighter, and feels more like the bolos I like to play with.

The reason I dont like using my 20" Siru for single stick, is that its heavy enough to make my arm feel it noticeably, and such un-even exercise isnt good for you. Ive tried to do long-stick work with it, but its not heavy enough to feel right. Not to mention the bend feels funny. I do like using it for strength training for sinawali, but thats because I can switch hands between right and left and get a more even workout.

So, is your Siru a Chiruwa? That sounds like one of those... Which brings me back to the original question:

A sword-like Fighting-Utility Khuk... I'm right now thinking 'bout a lightweight 2-2.2 pound, 25" Siru. Anybody have any comments? How straight is it? The only guy I know that's used it is Tom Holt.....

this certainly describes the 21" GS, or the AK bowie, if you want a more compact fighter/utilty/camp selection.

I believe Yvsa has an HI-forged chainpuri blade that he made a handle for. It was a blade-only special order. But I might be wrong on all of these counts.

Speaking of non-HI patterns, how's the Sherpa-style coming?

Nope, you're spot on Tohatchi.:) Actually I had forgotten all about it. :o
It is most definitely a weapon!!!! But it doesn't look like a standard Chainpuri with the reworked blade and curved handle that forms an almost perfect arc.:D

I tried to do a search to see if I could find it, but I kept getting a "Fatal Error.":(
There's an attached pic of it on the thread.

Edit:
I couldn't find the pic I was looking for, but I did find a pic of it.
You can find it here, it's the one on the top left.

Hibuke my siru is not chiruwa. Ive never been fond of scales and rivets. I do think a straighter siru or kobra make transitioning from your training to practical usage easier than something with a greater bend.

I'm looking at a sword-like fighting/utility khuk in the 25" range, as I like the reach...

Again, anyone have experience with a light (say 2 pound) 25" Siru?
