Just bought $250 worth of kydex and Tekloks....$450 worth of stabilized wood...spent $100 on some fancy hole-saws...another $180 for heat-treating compound...and still need to buy another $100 worth of corby pins....and I'm almost out of steel...

*sigh*....

My wallet is tired and needs a nap....:(

How I manage to stay "in the black" is a mystery to me!

its ok dan... you can turn all those supplies into money makers :p

YAY!!! tekloks are in... email me when youre able to send one out dan :D my kerambit sheath is anxiously waiting :)

sadly...the TekLoks are merely "ordered"....:(....the last batch took 4+ weeks to get here...hope that's not the case with this order!

just remembered...need to buy a large carbide countersink as well...crap!

maybe I should just make a list here...might be easier to keep track of everything...:foot:

Done. $60 + s/h...doesn't sting as bad, relatively speaking I guess

If anybody here aspires to becoming a knifemaker...my wallet is offering to kick your wallet in the nuts. Trust me....it's less painful!

Ha!

Just remembered another one...Blade Show table fee is overdue ($200 now, $300 later) AND I owe Paul Bos $68 for heat-treating some ZDP-189 for me.

Crap...

Am I done yet? freakin' whiner that I am today...man...just had to rant!#$@@%

knifemaking dream *fluuusshhhhh* lol j/k :)
please dont ever stop dan... you know how we all love the beautiful beautiful knives and "god" like kydex sheaths you create :D

hmmmm which reminds me... email sent :p

Man, you better keep making those blades. They are absolutely awesome. I always look forward to your posts in the for sale forum. Hope stuff starts to look up for you! I really want a Dankura, I missed the last batch.

Save that first post for the next time someone asks why custom knives cost so much. :D

And that's just materials and equipment, not the time & effort to actually make anything out of them!

The Koster Karda

yea, if it weren't for supplies, I might come out even. :D

I feel for you on a much, much, much smaller level, Dan. My leatherwork is just getting to the finish quality where friends and family members are starting to ask me for belts and sheathes. I tell them that they should try it themselves, because it's not hard. All you need is leather (usually sold in a massive side or shoulder), thread, stamps, dye, conditioner, gloss, needles, a drill press, hammers, snaps, rivets, buckles, glue, shears, razor blades, etc, etc, etc:rolleyes: It's a fun hobby, but I don't want to even think about what I have (as well as family members that bought me some of the stuff over the last couple Christmas') plunked into it:D

Hey, Dan! Now that you have all that new stuff, can I borrow some of that stuff?? I'll get it back to you... uh, sometime, promise!

:D :D

Keep up the great work, makes me glad I'm just a hobbyist.

Thanks for the kind words, guys...my wallet is still pissed, though...

(sitting here trying to think what else needs to be ordered....gotta be something...might as well sink the whole dang ship rather than just punch holes in it...)

Well Dan if it helps any my wallets still pissed at your wallet. After puttering around the forums and looking at your tutorials you've been as my wife would say a bad influence. Since then I've been tinkering in the garage with steel and wood and much noise. I'm still in the learning stage but I hope to be able create some of the beatiful pieces that you and others in this forum have created. thanks for getting me into such an exspesive hobby:)
