I find bics don't light very well when cold, but I carry one as a backup anyway.
I usually use a firesteel and drier lint, which I keep in a small ziploc baggie, and I carry some splinters of fatwood as well, about the size of toothpicks. When I get my K&M matchcases it will be filled with a firesteel blank, wood matches, and possibly a few fatwood splinters.
