As requested, Edge Pro Apex sharpening Videos

I have the Edge Pro Apex with all the Extra's.

I might get the Pro one day though.

I just looked online those pro models are up there. How can there be that big of a difference between the apex and the pro. Maybe I'll call them and ask. Well thanks for the imfo.

Better build quality and larger stones. The apex does not feel like 200 dollars worth of build construction FYI IMO:)

Duuds--- I'd buy a belt grinder and a buffer. The prices are very good today on these items.

The Stones are the same for the Pro and the Apex, but on the Pro the Guide rod is longer with a Piece in the front and back so you can use the whole length of the stones.

Also the Pro is adjustable for height and has a more solid base mounting system and it's made out of metal.

Other than that they are the same.

Like I said, maybe one day in the future I might get the Pro.

Thanks for clearing that up Ank. I know I read somehwere on here about bigger stones. Maybe it was what u said about being able to use more of the stones. Either way, I'm glad that I stand corrected. I would have felt bad if 762 bought the pro and got that surprise!!

Yeah, they are the same. :)

He would have gotten a surprise.

Ank, thanks for posting that series of videos man!!

I have the same system, and put a really nice edge on a few of my Striders, your videos make it look easy!!! I quit at 320 grit. :D

Nice job Shankerson! Thanks for taking the time to make the vids and post them here. It was nice to see how the polishing tapes work. Now, off to order some.

Thanks guys, Ank which one do you have? And i can always add to it can't i. Any advice would be welcomed.

I got the Pro 2 Kit in January, I ordered it directly from EdgePro Inc. Great service.

I had the Apex version in the past which worked fine but the Pro model has a much better base and is more stable and comfortable to use.

The Apex tends to move a little when you sharpen because there are only two suckers on the side which is farter from the user.

The Pro has a suction base which is stronger and placed in the middle of the edgepro.

Also when you have to sharpen the other side of the blade you have to swap your hands and rotate the edge pro. This is easier and more comfortable with the Pro base.

Thanks that's the one I'm looking at getting the pro-2 setup,

The Edge Pro can be used on full convex blades. You need a piece of leather (same lenght and width of a stone) with some honing compound or a piece of neoprene rubber with sandpaper.

Get an aluminum base like those used to hold the stones and glue the leather (or neoprene) on it. Install on the EdgePro like you would do with any stone.

Now you can pass the sandpaper or leather on the blade always with the same angle. Off course you only go from the spine to the edge !

I got my freebie apex 4 today.. No instructions came with it though.

Where do you set the guide? Do I move the stones over the tip of the knife while the tip top half is unsupported or do I make it so the stone never goes across any part of the knife that's not supported by the table? So far, my results are WAY better freehand, but I really don't know what i'm going yet on the EP.

You have to move the knife along the table.

Start with this video, watch it a few times. :)
