ASH 2 vs NMFSH

ASH-2 for me, having only handled both of them… that being said that I prefer Double Talon Battle Mistress over either of them.
I haven't handled the NMFSH but I agree with your sentiments on the DTBM. I really really like the ASH2 but I love the Double Talon. The scales are more nicely contoured where the ASH2 handle is a bit more square on the edges. Overall, to me the weight and feel of the ASH2 feels like a short chopper whereas the DTBM feels "knifey-er" even though it has a longer, thicker blade.

Actually, Steel Heart Ergo Gen 2 is about my favorite handle of any recent big blades I have handled from the shop. It is pretty amazing to me how little appreciation has been shown towards the Badger Attack Ergo Gen 2 & Steel Heart Ergo Gen 2 as I am very pleased with the handles overall, very versatile ergonomics… just feel that they both need a bit more length in the blade for my tastes given the handles.

I agree entirely. The Steel Heart Ergo Gen 2 was my first Busse and I have been continually impressed with it. The handle is very comfortable under extended heavy use; it is certainly the most comfortable large fixed blade I've ever held. I very well may have to try the BMe2, and I think I will eventually own the entire Gen 2 Ergo lineup.

Fair enough! I'm getting a NMFSH.

you will not regret!

Keep the pics coming! Can't wait to have mine in hand. Next week, I'll have my own bragging pics to post! ;)

NMFSH eh? Yeah, I've got a few pics... :D

Love it!!! The one I have coming is also a bumblebee. Love some black/yellow g10, and good to see when I get done beating her she'll be pretty as hell stripped!

Yeah, the bumblebee is cool! Too bad it didn't become a regular offering.

NMFSH is prettier but I sold mine and kept the ASH-2. NMFSH is a big, heavy bruiser. For chopping, I prefer something longer like an ASHBM. ASH-2 is quicker in hand ... but if you want beef in a medium-long blade, NMFSH is the ticket.

This Thing Looks Gorgeous lol and feels even bettervthan that. I dont have an ASH-2 yet, but will as soon as i find one with a right combo, and if the handle is anything like ASH-1 (which it is) lol than it'll be great.
P.S.
I dont get all these people that choose either, Or.
The correct answer is all of the above lol What happened to little Verity in the Chopping Arsenal ?

The ASH2 in Rob's video performed incredibly well though.
I'm thinkin its gonna be a fantastic all-rounder. Power and finess if you will...

From what I've seen the edge geometry on my ASH-2 is significantly leaner behind the edge (thickness) than any large Busse chopper I have seen to date, what you have noticed is almost certainly attributed to this.

Awesome. Thank you for the 411!

The more recent Busse knives are definitely being ground thinner, and they do chop better as a result.

For example, the copies of the SR-101 BG WTF I've handled have been quite thin near the edge. The two I've measured (one black, one tanker) were on average, in a 5" long section between 2" and 7" from the handle scales, 0.066" thick at 1/4" back from the edge, and 0.080" thick at 3/8" back from the edge. Thickness immediately behind the edge averaged 0.036". FWIW.

Man......just got my ASH2 in yesterday.
Gotta say she feels better in my hand than any other Busee or Kin that Ive had. Which aint a lot by no means!
However, the ASH2 has phenomenal ergos and balance.
Feels better in the hand than even my SFNO. The SFNO is just a tad thick in the palm, but certainly not so with the ASH2. Cant believe how light she is either.
Going from .25 to .22 makes a good difference I reckon.
That and just the overall design of the knife I reckon. 9" and the weight is well distributed.
