ASHBM killed my pinky finger...

Bushwacker Mistress is worse for your pinky:

I was just going to post that you trade that sucker in for a BWM - its my favorite Busse choper because you don't get any Busse pinky - then I saw this!!!

Seriously though, thats why I love the BWM over the others.

+1 can we get a response.

+2, I've been pondering this all along!!! Has anyone stepped up and removed the grip plates that we can see the tang??? I think that would answer a mess of questions.

The first thing I do with a new busse is wrap the handle with "hockey stick tape" you can build it up to customize the feel of the handle and it's grippy!!!
Try it you'll like it!
And when it wears you just re-wrap it.

I don't know if the light brigade treatment, or whatever you want to call it, will allow it, but if the hollow cavity underneath the scales will allow it, I would go buy some SIMS Vibration Laboratory "Limbsavers", sold at "bowhunting supply houses, cut them down to tightly fit inside each little cavity, then re-attach your scales, and see how much improvement you get. Anyone here who is into archery knows how this simple little vibration absorbing material took the archery industry by storm almost overnight. That's how good it works. Def something to try. It's a soft black rubber, and benefits are huge, IF you've got some cavity area to work with that is.

You've got a point there Razorhunter, one well known knife company uses a hard rubber "gasket" between the scales and tang and it works wonderfully. Something similar on a skeletonized Busse tang would work. Though, you'd need some bolts. Win/Win, lighter handle, heavier blade end, amazing chopping power.

Yes, the Limbsaver company is a huge success now, and its actually technology carried over from the stereo electronics industry IIRC.
However, I was thinking about bolts earlier as well, but I don't see why you'd need them?? I'd have to see a knife without it's scales, but I don't see why you can't cut a clearance hole for the standard Busse thong hole tubes through the Limbsaver material, just as you'd need to for that bolt, no? What am I missing?

you're missing the need to remove the tapered tubes - unless you have a flaring tool to make new ones, it'll take bolts or rivets to reinstall the scales.

OTOH, I was chopping up a tree with an ASHBM this weekend and had no issues with pinky bite -- because when wearing gloves, I can only get 3 fingers in there!
