This is NOT a "bash Busse" thread" so please don't interpret my question this way, cool? Just curi:confused:sity...
Is it me... Or does it seem to anybody else that the 2007SE ASH-1, that was such a hot item during BLADE and the BloodBathaGanzaaaaa, and even those ASH-1's sold @ Blade West has already lost most of its charm to many that scored 1 (or more)? I've seen roughly 6 SE ASH-1's or more listed here on the Exchange in the last 2 weeks, give or take... Also a few custom ASH-1's too, both on that 'Bay site and on BF.com's Exchange... I'm curious, and can't really figure out why many of these are hitting the secondary market so quickly... I think that these are great knives, and I have one SE with 2 more on the way, one of which I plan to use...
...But, has everyone already chilled on what I think is considered the most hotly anticipated upcoming offering since I started collecting Busse's about a year ago, even before they hit the Busse website? Chime in, tell me what you think... Inquiring mindz wanna know...! :)

I think people bought too many, and now they want to dump them before they come available for everyone to order.

I can only speak for myself, I have recently purchased a lot of not knife related stuff and have to sell as many Busse's as it takes to pay off my CC bills. But I still hope to end up with at least 5 custom ASH-1 after the dust settles.

Greg

EDIT: But I only have customs, no SE's for me ...

I think people bought to sell. Look at the immediate return on the investment, it's huge! I plan on keeping mine and goona get some CG's as well! Just my .02 worth, no regrets.

Or even if they didn't buy too many, they're unloading after seeing how much some of the ASH1 SE's have brought. I'll be the first to admit that some of the asking and buying prices have shocked me.

I only got one ASH1 SE, and I'll keep it. It was THE knife introduced at 2007 Blade, the same Blade where I got the HOG nod. Has some special meaning to me in that regard.

Will I use it? I thought I would immediately, but I think I'm going to see what configurations are offered from the Shop. I might just see something else I would prefer in a user (though I can't imagine what it would be).

I'm kinda in this boat myself. I DID NOT put mine up to make money. At least that was not my intention. I am absolutely in love with the ASH1. The only reason I let mine go is because I was too afraid to use the SE version, but it was just begging for it. When the regulars get released, I plan on buying a couple. It does stink to see so many going up on the exchange.

Seems to me like people bought to many, or they just didnt appeal to them. I mean if you bought 4, and you have one user....and you can sell 2 and have a safe queen and spend that money on something diff....it makes sense. Or maybe i am just talkin in circles.

Well I dont have any ASH's, I really want one. However I know soon I can get one much cheaper than they are being offered(6-700?). I know the ones that are being offered are LE's or Ganzaas or whatever but they wont use any diff to me so I figure I'll just wait. EXCEPT that recurve....gonna get me one of those:D

I actually bought mine to keep but may not after all just because others are "more determined" than I to have it. It's THE MOST comfortable knife I own, have owned or have even held. It's really amazing even with standard slabs on the SE. After handling it for the last few days my large choppers (also Busse's) feel huge and cumbersome by comparison. It is going to be loved by anyone who likes the SFNO. It's very similar in overall geometry with a slightly shorter handle.

I think there were more of the ASH1SE's made to celebrate the anniversary as much of the SE line was IMO. Also, I think some like me who own them see people who don't want to wait the 5 months or so to get one and that has driven the price up dramatically. It's the first time anyone has been able to get a Busse BEFORE the ordering period and these knives are unique, limited and QUITE nice!

Double cut is my favorite so I thought I would hold mine at least until the ordering period started to see if that would be availabe during the order period. With such a premium on a knife, I would take great solace in carrying a combat grade ASH later if that is all I can get. I am in the middle of a remodel on my house which unfortunately forces me to be more pragmatic about this. (then admits to self that self just bought 2 chubby wardens last night...good grief). :o

edited to add: ... If I know it would mean a LOT to someone else to own an SE and I can accomodate them I tend toward that. I couldn't care less that something is LE or SE apart from the fact that they are usually nicely done. I only want users. AND THIS THING BEGS TO BE USED!!!

That's also what I thought.

I think they're awesome blades and if I had one it would be for sure a user:thumbup:

I scored one during the Ganza, and was not at Blade. I had no opportunity to hold one before I bought it, so bought it with the sole intention that I would see what it was like. If I liked it, then I would keep (read as "keep AND use") it; if not, off it goes to someone else. Really, that is pretty much what I do on every Busse I get, or any knife for that matter.

As it is, I have two comparably sized blades that I do consider to be keepers, and for my hands and IMO, they are more comfortable. One is a Ganza SFNO, the other my recent passaround clip point NO-e. If the ASH-1 was as comfy in hand as those, I would have been very hard to get rid of it regardless of what someone was willing to pay for it. :)

I don't think some of those guys WANTS to sell them...they just see how much they're selling for and can't refuse a quick buck. Me....you'll have to pry mine from my cold dead fingers :p Just got a SWEET sheath for the sucker too!

For me it was the handle size that led me to get rid of my ASH-1 SE (traded for a sweet custom BATAC). But I also have a custom shop one from the Blood Bath. ONE OF THE BEST feeling knives I have ever held. That one is not going anywhere. In fact, the blade size is a great camp knife with it's large belly. The SH attribute makes for nice balance as well. So... Basically for me it was the feel of the ASH-1 SEs that led to me dropping it. As to why the customs are hitting the secondary market, most likely due to profit bandits, or folks that got in too deep and need to free up for some funds...

BTW, NO offense meant towards either groups...

I'm still on the fence. I will buy a couple CG ASH1's when they are available for order that much is for sure. I need to weed out all the knives I was supposed to sell for other knife purchases LOL. They just keep piling up around here :foot:

I got one at blade in atlanta and got pestered for it within days -- so i traded it for an AK-47...

I want another, but will not pay the premium. I'll be waiting and VERY much looking forward to them hitting the Busse site for pre-order. Guys, DO NOT skip this one and wait for them to be at the Co Store -- this is one SWEET mid-sized, do anything knife!

I could not go to Blade in Atlanta.

I missed the Bloodbath Ganza.

I cried.

I have known that the ASH1 is for me an ideal all-'rounder size, and I had to have one but missed all the available opportunities. There were none at Blade West; what's up with that!? No respect for the West siders apparently.

So I went to the aftermarket, which around here is painful right now. But now I have a keeper and a user. I would like 1 more, but I'm not going to pay current prices for it.

People keep mentioning that "more [ASH1 SEs] will be available in several months" but as far as I know that is not true. The SE will not be available again.

It's like you were reading my mind.

Bought one. Keeping one. Still plan to buy one or two more. Hopefully a fat, mag CG and a Custom. The high prices the SEs have been selling for sure have been tempting, though! :o

I think there are those that bought multiples at blade knowing they could sell them and cover their cost of the trip, plus maybe even get a free knife out of it.

Then I think there are others that see what they're going for and say,
#&%*, I'll take that!

But... it is what it is, and unfortunately... people are paying it. :(

I just hope Boss doesn't see what they're fetchin' and set the prices based on that.

I don't think they mean SEs, I know I didn't.
