ASHes to ASHes... A Bust??? Anniversary Steel Heart 1 question...

But that's what people are buying now, not CGs or LEs. For *me* the SE matters, not purely the model which will be available later.

I don't think some of those guys WANTS to sell them...they just see how much they're selling for and can't refuse a quick buck. Me....you'll have to pry mine from my cold dead fingers :p Just got a SWEET sheath for the sucker too!

Exactly my thoughts ;) Mine isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I think it's a given that the price of an SE will fall as soon as the CG's start rolling out of Ohio.

Some people wanted them for a long term collection but just can't resist the temptation of big money. Others bought to resell and are getting out while the getting is good.

I have two SE's and a custom, I won't sell them, but I'm tempted to beat the hell out of one of the SE's then put it on the exchange for $800.

..................I think that as usual people bought Ganza knives that they had no intention of doing anything with other than selling them as soon as they got their hands on them. Once those people test the waters and one goes for say $700, that has to make people think… “well now I’m sitting on one or two and the regular production is coming soon so why not sell and buy a regular production knife later? I mean the fact that the knife says 2007 SE on the side doesn’t make it cut any better.” And once the market is set, if the knife doesn't fit your hand are you going to sell one for $300 under market to people you don't know?

It aslo seems that the SH-1 has the same thing going on as the early Wardens, buy one today and sell it tomorrow for at least 20% more than you paid.

But that 20% can cost you. Flipping knives can end up biting you on the azz. As I’m here longer I see that much of the real nice older stuff gets passed around sub-rosa among names you don’t see on the exchange much. Kind of like these knives that were passed to me at fair prices…

I think once you are known as just looking to make deals to make a buck your goose is cooked with a lot of people when they think about selling some real nice stuff. Now if I just want to slit my own throat and burn my relationships with these guys I’ll post them for sale for 20% more than I paid for them. :foot:

As some guy said in an email to me "that is not a HOG just a pig."

All I know is the guys that bought the ASH-1 's off the forum are going to have to rermember " no regrets" . When they show up at the BCS they going to be kicking themselves in the a$$ when they are being sold for $350.

I have no idea why they are coming up for sale. I really wanted to get one to make sheaths with. I will not pay the incredible mark up to get it though. I have just settled on buying every production knife Busse makes to keep on hand for sheaths. If I ever get lucky enough to snag a ASH1-SE or FSHSE at a decent price I will.

I am hoping that the prices on the SE's come down once the CG version hits the market.

I just hope that the busse site will be updated rather sooner then later.......:grumpy:

hehe tony i dont wanna know, oh and about those packages no regrets ;)

20% hike? That's only $80 on a $400 knife.

I'll take it... them... whatever. :D

Just a hunch, but SE's won't ever hit BCS IMO.

Well said, Tony.

It's a free-market, but sometimes the market ain't free...

I passed on an SH-1ASE for $100.00 over the selling price at Blade after talking to a HOG. We agreed that UNLESS I wanted a safe-queen, wait...

I'll buy multiples from the trough, but not for 2xRetail right now.

I've been known to pay the market price, but I think we're watching the bubble on these... :)

.

I got one at Blade (destined for some use out bck splitting some kindling and such) and traded for another while at Blade. I needed money so I sold the one I traded for. The ganza came around and I tried for a couple more. I nailed them, but some things have come up, as it seems they always do these days) and I had to sell one. There is still one in the safe. Will it get turned out in the future? If the need arises, I would definitely sell it off before I parted with one of my one offs. I buy most with collecting in mind, but I don't have any qualms about selling when I have to at whatever the market will bear. Some stuff goes to auction other stuff stays here.

I have one custom ASH. I was not that crazy about the SE but it seems to me that everyone really likes them. I think all this action is a function of how hot people are for these blades as opposed to any cooling off.

I can't disagree with that logic. If you want an SE then pay what you feel comfortable with, whether it is for the safe or the camp site. If you can bear the wait for the CGs to come out and get in your hands, then definitely wait. Some folks can't wait, I understand, I am the same way some times. I was one of those who really anticipated the return of the SH1, especially in INFI. If I weren't up and down in my finances lately (wish I could sell my commercial real estate) you guys wouldn't be getting a crack at any of my stuff and I would have a stash that would make Andre cry. :) I'll sell at what the market bears, sure. Do I sell behind the scenes and make better deals here and there? Only I and a few other Hogs know for sure. ;)
