ASHes to ASHes... A Bust??? Anniversary Steel Heart 1 question...

BURN HIM!!!!!!! and HIS PRADA!!!!!! :thumbdn:

Keep it up stinky boy, I feel a red chiclet coming on! :D The wife is actually using the Prada. I thought she would be too scared to use it, but I guess if I can beat an FBM LE, she can use her Prada. I just have to remind her not to carry a full baby bottle around in it (they tend to leak and that would just ruin the leather). :D

I bought a custom at BW then snagged an ASH1 off a trade so I put the custom shop version up FS :) I would have used the custom but since I have aquired the less expensive ASH1, I'll use the ASH1 instead and let the custom go to someone else :)

Or even if they didn't buy too many, they're unloading after seeing how much some of the ASH1 SE's have brought. I'll be the first to admit that some of the asking and buying prices have shocked me....

Shocked YOU???? No kiddin'... Me TOO!!! I didn't want to bring the resale angle into this thread, BUT, since it's now on the table, let's not forget that these were $367+ the convention fee tax/sales tax (6% @ BLADE, or Ganzaaaaa related shipping costs) & some of the Exchange pricing exceeds 100% for a knife last offered less than 2-3 months ago... Now, I'm not after every Seller, but SOME have risen to the forefront of my mind as "profit bandits" from their consistent buying/ selling practices of all types of Busse knives... Which DOES seem to violate BF.com Exchange policies too, BTW... RE: "You might be a dealer if..."

MD13, Progunner...I understand how & why some have to go... and for a chunk 'o change more... If you only have one and have to give it up, it suxx, and why not try to make a little on it for the loss... Also life changes, and $$$ is what keeps us in food/clothes/shelter, etc., and these do help when things get a li'l tight.

...It IS America after all, but some here recently have bought many for what seems to be only for the profit of it...
Does anyone OTHER than me remember the HEAT I took for the 27 Skelly Wardens??? How they thought I was going to re-list these on the 'Bay regardless of how much for each??? ...Or double the price and list them here on the Exchange? I made a promise then that NONE of those would find themselves up for auction over there, and I'm proud to say that I'm STILL living up to this promise... NONE have been listed by me... As a matter of fact, I've never listed ANY Busse there yet, and hope to never have to...
...But this is happening now, and I hope people are remembering who the "usual suspects" are...

I think there are those that bought multiples at blade knowing they could sell them and cover their cost of the trip, plus maybe even get a free knife out of it.

Then I think there are others that see what they're going for and say,
#&%*, I'll take that!

But... it is what it is, and unfortunately... people are paying it. :(

I just hope Boss doesn't see what they're fetchin' and set the prices based on that.

Make no mistake... A smart businessman will always keep track of the resale value of his product... And Jerry is a smart BusinessHOG... I'm sure that he checks constantly, and I would bet an ASH-1 on that.

I think it's a given that the price of an SE will fall as soon as the CG's start rolling out of Ohio.

Some people wanted them for a long term collection but just can't resist the temptation of big money. Others bought to resell and are getting out while the getting is good.

I have two SE's and a custom, I won't sell them, but I'm tempted to beat the hell out of one of the SE's then put it on the exchange for $800.

Heck... I'm gonna beat the s*** out of one and list it for $8000!!! ;) ...Kidding!

well why don't you just buy one and find out what all this is about? :grumpy:

WHOOPS! sorry, i see you already bought all the INFI available :foot: :o

Yeah, 'Skunker... We know... :D LMAO!!!...

 LOL!!!!!

...Keep the responses coming! This is turning into a lively conversation, and I am curious to see where it will lead... Just keep it clean, so as not to get this thread locked down before all who want to participate get a chance to be heard, cool? Thanks!

...as I type another box gets delivered:o)

Rub it in why don't you? ;) Tony's INFIfu is nothing to be trifled with my friends. He is like the Sus Scrofa...FEAR HIM!

I have no idea why they are coming up for sale. I really wanted to get one to make sheaths with. I will not pay the incredible mark up to get it though. I have just settled on buying every production knife Busse makes to keep on hand for sheaths. If I ever get lucky enough to snag a ASH1-SE or FSHSE at a decent price I will.

I am hoping that the prices on the SE's come down once the CG version hits the market.

I would expect the SE's to go down after the CG's come out, like Tony said having the SE logo on them doesn't make them cut any better (at least I think it was Tony, I already started drinking today. We buried the wife's 24 year old cousin today, if you know someone hooked on drugs, do them a favor kidnap tehm, beat them mercilessly or whatever you have to do to get them off that garbage).

I traded my SE to Bill Siegle for a few of his blades. The ASH-1 is an amazing design, and the SE had fantastic fit/finish. But I am more than satisfied with good old 5160, and a GW. I think most of the dumping is due to the profit opportunities, I would NEVER be able to get my hands on the steel Bill Siegle gave me. I think the heat surrounding the ASH-1 and Bill's generosity just worked out for me. Later down the road I will end up picking up a CG ASH-1, but the fit/finish of the SE was impeccable. Thanks again Bill.

I bought only one ASH1SE at Blade and no one can have it, it's all mine!

I don't plan on using it but it gets along so well with the others, so why ruin a good thing?:D

that's enough tony, this is a family forum

Skunk as usual you just seem to be able to see through to the very essence of my posts.

Good points Jaxx. I think the supply and demand is what's driving the prices right now, as well as what people are willing to pay. That, and the fact that they weren't easy to come by if you didn't attend Blade, or score in the Ganza. If these were on the market selling for what they originally went for, that's what mine would've gone for. I wasn't out to make a buck on it, especially at the expense of my fellow INFI brothers, but I'm also not going to sell for a quite a bit less than what people are getting on the secondary market. A little less, sure, but I'm no fool...... (well maybe :p ) It's a tough call when the money's there looking you in the face. To me, it all falls down to the intentions of the seller. Was this a pre-planned sale for profit, or just a case of "wasn't what I expected", or "Doesn't suite my hands very well" etc., etc.,

Now, are the ASH-1's worth what people are paying? IMO, you betcha. They're absolutely stunning knives, and probably one of the most comfortable Busse's I've had the pleasure of holding. I only wish I had bought 2. I had a hard time trying to bring myself to make it a user, especially when there are CG versions coming down the trough at some point in the future. Since I don't see myself as a collector, I figured I'd pass it along to someone that knew what they wanted to do with it. Again, if I had 2, I would've made one a user and probably safe queened the other.

For those that had the idea of buying multiples with the intentions of just turning them over for profit,...well, this is a family forum so I'll keep those thoughts to myself. ;)

I Still Want One!!!:D:thumbup::D

I think these are one of the most excellent Busse designs ever and am trying to figure out a way to get one. I guess I am waiting for Jerry to offer them up on the Busse site so that I can order one and then wait ... 2weeks (which is perfect as then I can use the time to sock away the cash needed to pay for it without the MRS having a hissy fit!):D;)

Did I say something wrong????

C'mon I was just saying...You All can do whatever I don't care...Except DO NOT BURN PRADA....:):)

What is PRADA?? I mean come on help me hereI am just a simple guy from the midwest - Is it something my wife would like?? Can I get her off my back about my Busse purchases if she had some??:D:D:D

Well, I suppose some people really could be rightly called "profit bandits" or such. Hard to avoid that, though, with any product that has limited availability and great demand. Personally, I try to avoid buying special edition anything just to avoid the temptation of trying to sell something I bought for use for profit instead of using it myself.

By the way...

Yeah, 'Skunker... We know... :D LMAO!!!...

Jaxx

That is an AMAZING heap of INFI you got there! Got any shots on how the insides of those drawers look like? And what the heck is that chessboard pattern stuff in there? :D
