Ashokan challenge sword

Cool. I'll start saving, grinding, and praying, and hopefully me and my bronze sword will make it. I guess I should google this for more info.

Hmmmm....here's what I want to do...at least, here's the start :)

Well, as long as work doesn't get in the way it looks like I may be able to make it this year. :D

Now I need to decide what I'm doing for a sword. I'm fighting between two types and I don't know which is going to win out. Once I pick a type it's time to start designing...

Can somebody point me to the registration info for this year? I know the campus has changed hands since I was there last.

Erik, great design, very cutlass-y. I would however add some taper to that tang width wise, a sharp shoulder like that (no not the corners, I know they will be radiused) and a sudden cut back to the tang might be some strength issues.

I'M IN, how could I not be :D? 4 Months, should be just enough time to finish something......:o

Thanks, Sam! I actually changed it a little after I posted, added some beef to the tang, lessened the guard shoulders and radiused the corners. I will add some taper as you said. Now, back to the challenge!

That type is referred to as a "rat tail" in the sword community.

OH MAN I AM SO GIDDY THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!

So, who can give me info on how to register for Ashokan this year? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

Just wait and Kevin will most likely post the info when its available. Or you can shoot him an email.

Sorry if I sounded short in the above original post. Tim Zowada and Kevin put it together. I bet they dont even have all the details down yet.
In the past Kevin has posted the info when he had it. I certainly hope I can go again this year it was a blast last year.

you can bet your sweet bippies I will be making a sword:) This is a contest I dont mind losing considering the compitition.

I bet it wouldn't be hard to get a group shot in Blade if we had 10-20 fine swords there.......Right Tim?

hay, stacy if someone like me was to fly there for this where would be the best airport to head to. I would really really like to go to this. plus it would be fun meeting everyone i know on here.

Stuart international airport would be the best JT, drop down and off interstate 84 through new paltz/rock ridge and bam right there.

Thanks Sam, I was wracking my brain trying to remember, I flown into Stuart half a dozen times.
JT that would be the best one.
