Are there any restrictions on the materials or process? Do they have to be forged?
No restrictions on materials and no they do not have to be forged.
You could make one out of bronze if you wanted.

That just means we will have to do our very best work!
I may try a bronze one too. that could be fun!Cool. I'll start saving, grinding, and praying, and hopefully me and my bronze sword will make it. I guess I should google this for more info.
Hmmmm....here's what I want to do...at least, here's the start

Thanks, Sam! I actually changed it a little after I posted, added some beef to the tang, lessened the guard shoulders and radiused the corners. I will add some taper as you said. Now, back to the challenge!Erik, great design, very cutlass-y. I would however add some taper to that tang width wise, a sharp shoulder like that (no not the corners, I know they will be radiused) and a sudden cut back to the tang might be some strength issues.
I'M IN, how could I not be? 4 Months, should be just enough time to finish something......

I bet it wouldn't be hard to get a group shot in Blade if we had 10-20 fine swords there.......Right Tim?
