Ashokan - Registration Info and Schedule

For those wondering what the heck Stacy and I are talking about... Ashokan has a growing tradition of both kilts and lederhosen!

Reckon I'll be missing this one, too much stuff going on, car woes & two daughters getting married weeks apart, but it was the car that was unexpected.
Have a great time guys!!!

i think deker said he was going and i coud hop a ride with him (think sam might be in for the ridealog too

Well, a small break, my youngest daughter has moved her wedding date out till next year, which means I just might be able to make it this year ;)

Here are a couple links to some previous years at Ashokan, each year is a little different, much as the folks that attend 

Ashokan 2010

Ashokan 2011

Ashokan 2009

Ashokan 2008 This one has Brian Lyttle, one of the guest speakers coming this year...

Anyone know if the new facilities are completed? As the plan was to be up on the higher level as the lower area will be flooded by the reservoir, a necessary need to help keep things balanced, water wise.

I was wondering about the facilities as well. I know last year we were all told it would be the last year of the old bunk houses and kitchen, but I'm wondering if that's come to pass or not. Only a few weeks away now =)

Don Agee went by there a while back and said the new facilities were up and being worked on. I haven't heard anything else. The only articles I can find are from July, and they say it is seven months till they are done. ????? Anyone been by lately?

There are some links to pictures of the new buildings, but it doesn't look like they are done yet. I saw in one of the links that they don't know if they will be ready by some seminar in October 2012.

There is a slide show of the new buildings here.

And an article here.

Just got off the phone with the program director at Ashokan.

The new facilities are almost complete, but they don't have a move in date. It is most likely we will be in the old facilities, so plan for that. If they are ready for us to use some of the new buildings, they will do that. They might surprise us, but can't be sure.

Can't wait for Ashokan. Missed last year and this will be my 2nd year. Anyone from the New England area going?

Nice Stacy, I hope they will let us use some of the buildings for lectures maybe?
And from the registration email I see Tim Neu's name, will he be around with us this year too? hope so!

Well, just checking to see who all was coming this year that's already signed up and noticed there was an announcement, copied and pasted below

This is a Good News/Bad News post. First the bad news, both Brian Lyttle and Jason Knight will be unable to attend this years seminar. It's a long story, but we wish them well and hope they can make it next year.

Now for the good news. I have "twisted the arms" of Tim Wright and Rick Barrett. They have both agreed to come and fill the empty slots! Once again, we have a stellar list of lecturers and demonstrators
.

While I was really hoping to see both Brian and Jason, I was happy that Tim and Rick were able to fill in the blanks, haven't seen Tim in a few years, it'll be nice to have him there once again!

So it's August 31st guys/gals, take advantage of this opportunity and sign up before the higher rates are applied.
Cya there folks,
G2

I'll be driving over from Rhode Island, and dragging some stuff with me for sale, and some other stuff already sold (giant massive hunk of steel for a power hammer for Sam for example)

Looking forward to ashokan, even though all my shop time has been working on the car, not making knives. Car wont quite be ready to drive out to ashokan though =P (which might be a good thing because it allows me to bring people giant heavy hunks of metal !)
