Aside from knives, what other outdoor gear do you have too much of?

You know those thoughts that just pop into your head about knives? What, you can't tell me you don't daydream about knives once in a while! Okay, maybe it's just me :p

But I got to thinking about all the many knives I have, or have had over the years and why I liked a particular knife at that time, or why my preferences have changed through the years. I was also wondering why I have so many (actually right now I have waaay less than I used to)

It got me to thinking about what other piece of gear that I have too much of. It would be weird to have 20 different sleeping bags, or 15 tents, 27 pairs of hiking boots, you get the point. I know there is a recurring theme among knife nuts with watches and flashlights too though.

But I realized I have about 15 to 20 different hats that are just my bummin around the woods hats. Doesn't even include regular baseball caps and beanies either, which I also have way too many of. But I have about 7 or 8 GI boonie hats in a variety of colors, a tin cloth hat from Filson, several types of straw hats, a variety of other canvas and cloth fishing hats, and my Real Deal tarp hat (all time favorite so far)

So as I watch the clock tick the last few minutes until the whistles blows, I wondered what other gear addictions people have? (And if anyone does have 27 pairs of hiking boots, your secret is safe here!)

bags and pouches
so many
i even have bags full of pouches
and oddly enough,
I still dont have "the one" :D

and i complain when my wife wants another purse
hahahaha
she better not look in the back of the closet under the stairs

Bags and pouches, fire making gear and compasses. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Survival fishing equipment...and on and on and on. :D

Let's just say I could easily equip a platoon for an expedition :D

ROCK6

Backpacks......

Osprey 3800 CI
Gregory 4250 CI IIRC (can't even recall all the specs I have so many) ;)
Kelty Redwing 2650 CI
Go Lite 3800 CI
Go Lite 2000 CI IIRC

and about 4 different Camel backs all a little different.

Packs. I have too many and have gave away some even. The newer ones are top of the line and can cost more than some knives so i force myself to sell one to get another. I can't find the "one" lol.

Don't get me started on knives. I would love to sell off over 75% of them just to free up space. I really respect the guys who have their pieces of gear and are happy with it. They don't have to go through the strain of deciding which stuff to take because they already know.

tents. I have, at last count, and not including several that my kids have walked off with, some 11 tents.
Packs. There are two shelves full of packs out in the shed
stoves. Several Sveas now, Pocket Rockets, Trangias, other alcohol stoves, hobo stoves, esbit stoves, Coleman stoves (gas and propane).............

Guns are as addicting for sure. My dad is a gun and knife guy, mostly guns. He got me my start in guns and knives. But I am much poorer so it's mainly knives for me :D

Mannlicher, I was hoping someone would step up with some crazy amount of tents or something like that

I forgot about packs, if I count them all including Camelbaks and lumbar packs, I have... too many of those too. Maybe 8 or so :o

now that i think about it I would have to agree with the flashlights, watches, hats, GUNS and so on, but the one that I wasn't aware of until a few seconds ago would have to be belts. It seems like I am always looking for a better belt. Between uniforms, dress cloths, and civies..dress...casual...I probably have 14

Packs -- just gave one away so that's great. Stoves: Svea, Coleman, Optimus, Trangia. Camping/backpacking gear in general -- inveterate experiimenter. Guns. Ammo -- over 30,000 rounds and I'm a piker in the gun nut world.

Not outdoorsy, but inexplicable: 75 different slide rules.

And fountain pens. And inks.

Firesteels and associated devices
sharpening stones and rods ( don't go there!)
waaay too much trioxane,esbits,and hexamine

Rest of the gear pretty much normal.

Good thing you didn't include knives. I have a real issue there:D
