Asked for Blessing and Received

My father-in-law response was priceless.....he said that since I am already f***ing her, I might as well marry her.

Congrats...now go buy some his and her Izula's.

She has already stated she wants a Tactical Pink Izula. Which already makes me happy.

Congrats! Great way to do this too!

I remeber when I asked my F.I.L years back, (I'm now divorced) and laughing at his response. He said, "You have my blessing and how soon will she be moving out?" LOL

Congrats! Nice to hear the stories about families that support a marriage. I hope you both have a long and happy life together.

My wife's Mom was ummmmmm less supportive. She was unthrilled about us getting married, and told everyone at our wedding we'd be apart in 6 months. (20 year together this Jan) She passed on this year, and still thought my wife was too good for me (and maybe she is).

My Dad was like.... so when are ya gonna give us grandkids?

My Mom was like: (to my wife) Thank god Dear, he's your problem now. :)

That's really cool brother. I remember when I asked my father-n-law for his blessing... because it wasn't THAT long ago. I come from a pretty traditional family and so does she so I had to go about everything the formal way. Drove all the way to Ohio, sat down with the dad, and we had our little talk. He definitely had some fun at my expense during the conversation and then told me about when he had asked his father-n-law for his blessing. It was a really cool conversation. Well congrats bro. So how you gunna ask the future wife? Oh, and cool pics too by the way.

Well...We are taking a hike to the Mt. Cammerer fire-tower. The firetower is located off the AT in the north east portion of the Smoky Mountain NP. It's 5.2 miles up there, and if you want to do the other half of the loop it's 7 back. I figure if she can make it to the firetower she's a keeper.

Here's a view from the firetower:

Very cool bro! That's definitely a good way to do it.

You do realize that for the money you'll spend on a ring, you could buy one of everything off the RAT website, including a trip to Peru, right? :D

Hah, I already have purchased the ring my friend. Let's not talk about what I could have got instead.

Yeah, If I stayed single and didnt have to get a ring for my wife, I could have bought myself a full auto MP5. What a trade off, wife for 30+ yrs. or MP5...:( Honestly, I made a deal w/ my wife. When I bought her an engagement ring (2 yrs. ago), she agreed to buy me an engagement Rolex Submariner, stainless (which Im still waiting for). Just let her know she still makes out in the end :)

Is that even allowed?
Shoulda said no take backs when he gave it the first time.

Live and Learn, eh?

Congrats! Its good that you had the chat with her dad. Traditions are part of the ceremony, and the ceremony reminds us of our obligations and the commitment we are making.

My wife and I didn't do anything traditional. We eloped and bought camping gear with the money we saved. Still we are committed to one another and just celebrated the ten'th this year. Instead of throwing a party, we bought some camping gear and went camping :)

Best of wishes. Remember - with all the wedding hubbub that will infest your life, its the marriage that counts, not the wedding.

This man speaks the truth. The most exciting part about my wedding day was when it was over. Families will find something to fight about whether it's you or the reception napkins. Enjoy it! :D

You're a righteous dude!
With a view like that who wouldn't give his blessing....he knew that if you were an a##hole God wouldn't have let you get so close to heaven.;)
