Atlanta Blade Show Report...

Well to begain.
The drive there was great. As I walked in the motel Larry was there asking if they had heard from me
Several hugs later I was in his room looking at his and Allens toys!!
Got some of my stuff in and halled out my toys…
Two hrs later I rembered to call the wife and let her know I got there OK…
The next day we went to the hall to set up …
It was the 3 H's HOT Humid and Hazzy!!!!!
On finding a space to park, I went in to meet every one.
Larry was there and showed me were my table was!
Some of the other guys and gals were there and hugs around then I was showed my table.
I felt like the lost Collector coming home the way they were so glad to see me!

Goose – I made a scimitar from foam, located Joe's table, laid it there, and then went to get other stuff
And you should have seen his look as he got there to put his stuff!!!
Then you could see the light come on and he looked around to see who was close with a grin!!!
Some how I think he was looking for a bike also … !!!!

More hand shakes and more club members arriving !!!!
I was amazed at how quickly some of the most completed displays went up so fast!
Then I was having to be careful to not drool over the glass!

Some time later, I was drawn back to setting up mine again…

I was so excited I felt like I was on a sugar rush!
Unhappy was the word when discovered I had lost a page of labels!
Printed the wrong page and I started sweating it for two days!

I got much help in setting up and getting information on how things would happen and when.
Every ONE was so helpful!!! - but I Must beg forgiveness on not being able to put names on who helped me with what…

I was shocked as that all of them wanted to see the chestnut all put together!!!
Seems all had been following the postings! And they all knew more of me then I knew of them!!! Truly, with my bad memory I felt like at a family reunion and not remembering my aunts and uncles and other relatives names!!!
So embarrassing still!
And FAMILY REUNION is the best term to describe my feelings of the relation ship the club members have with each other!!!!
They all wanted to know more details of how I did what and all thought the cases were great.
I chatted knives and collecting so much I was always behind were I wanted to be in setting up!

The hall was Hot and I was so glad I had brought lots of extra water as every one else hand thought the air would be on as it was in the past so I felt good I could contribute to others also as they helped me.

Later my brother showed up and all was well for Thursday with the opening of the show coming the next day …
More on Friday later!!
But some bad news…I was down loading the 560 pictures and a power outage caused me to loose all but 200 of them…It also burned up my 2 gig memory card … I would gladly sacrifice two cards to have the pict’s back… but so it goes ...

Hi Dave,

I'm sitting here with a bad key board.....drooled all over it. Very cool report...now I want to get out to Post Falls even more..."is it 07 of 08 yet"? Please add names to those photos if you remember who is who ;). Sorry to hear you lost most of your photos (ever hear of a surge protector?); I count 19 photo's posted.....so that makes 181 more to post....LOL. Glad you had a wonderful time......maybe I can make it next year.

many cool events right there at the BCCI tables
friday the place opened to the public and man the rush was on !
i was still in a panic over lost lables for the knives..
at one point i jest said i am nothaveing fun sweeting over them .
so i dismissed then and went and had fun!
i walked around looking at the other tables and looking for names i had seen
went to the buck company stand and hung there chating with the factory folks
they are nice as any!
met on that hangs at the froum here ...
they realy do read what we post here with intrest!
many of them soon as they knew i was 334 or decafe dave knew more on me then i do!

many times when i was there the rest of the show they would call on me to bive the 110 history
to thoes that asked them... i hope cause i knew it well and not that they were being nice!

i go t to meet Leroy Remer / Dave Yellowhorse / Wild Bill Cody and Mike Pratner
the other collabators were not there...

guess what ? they are rerglure folks like us!!!
easy to talk to and some times suprised at how much we want their work and willing to pay to get it!

at first i was wandering were most went with the bags they had...
more on that later...

i checked out the other knife clubs and NOTHING like the buck collectors at alll...

the bussy group was roudy chearing for a give away at their counter but no one showing off collections at all
many busness showing off and painted pony was there along with a yellowhorse company

i was taken by the shoping you could do there!
and that was why many were makeing the rounds fast and ahead of every one else
to get the show bargons before any one else did!

lot of renewing of aqueantances at the BCCI group
lot of wish full talk of things wanted
all the makers, like Leroy, looked at cases and pointed out things they had made...
many times they took much time to give historys on each knife they had made and the collectors were
burning up ink pens recording it for the next show...

the club had dinner at applebies on friday nite with much chitty chatting and comradadry!
end of a very bussy and exciteing day!

there were awards for differing points of collecting and theams... larry and john and others whos names i cant get right got knives as awards for their desplays ! most all are better then most of the profesional displays!

Wow Dave I am so jealous that you guys have this huge event over there, we have nothing that could even compare to Blade in Aus.
This thread and your pics really show how big and interesting Buck collecting is in the US

I think I'll now go and look at my meager collection and dream of what it hopefully will grow up to be one day :o .

Congrats on the awards and your displays really do look teriffic

Beautiful knives -- you should be proud! And you got some fine displays to show them in :D

Way to go Dave!!!!

You did us proud Buck brother.....and your collection and displays got the recognition they deserve. Those award 111's are a nice token of your hard work and are a nice addition to that collection. Now, what did you buy for that collection of yours at the show????

I walked up to my table and saw that foam scimitar laying there...No doubt in my mind who's calling card that was. :D
And for those who have not had the pleasure of meeting Dave in person, he talks much better than he types! ;) I hardly understood the man at first. ;)
Dave and his bother Clinton are both first class and I was honored to hang out with them at the show.
