Atlas Dynamic Defense

It’s evidence of their popularity which is itself very evident that it’s a respectable product. Not only that but even Hawkeye has a Busse knife and that is a major name brand movie.

Sorry but I stand my ground that its proof that its good enough to stand on their own two feet on a public stage with everything it has to back it up with.
Although I agree with you that Busse Knives are awesome, I can't agree with your logic there.o_O
Just sayin';)

Yea, they use frost cutlery on some episodes, doesn't mean they are good quality.

Atlas dynamic defense knives are a freaking joke. The marketing alone is repulsive. Add in the astronomical prices and it really gets idiotic. Jeesh, people must really have money to throw away these days if this moronic knife company is still in business.

If you don’t agree with my logic, then you don’t understand marketing 101 from both ends of the spectrum.

If a tv show/movie has a very strong name brand such as The Walking Dead and The Avengers, it is basic marketing 101 to not include crappy product brands such as mall ninja knife brands in those shows/film. By letting or asking Busse knives to be a part of the whole tv series for the Walking Dead shows that they trust Busse knives as a brand and everything Busse Company stands behind its product. On the other end of the spectrum, Busse Company profits and benefits from high public exposures from strong media brand names.

Now, if Busse Company was as crappy as Mall ninja brands, do you honestly think they would’ve been allowed on those tv shows/movies? That is why I stand my ground regarding the popularity of the Busse knives.

Nope. Apparently you'll have to agree to disagree with the majority here.

Shows that have a plethora of knife scenes need a high volume of knives to keep up with said scenes. The guy or gal who is in charge of props isn't likely choosing high quality knives exclusively, more like mostly junk with the occasional high quality knife.

You're over thinking this.

I understand marketing enough to know that its something that's paid for. If Atlas-Dynamic-Defense wanted to donate some knives and pay the fees, their knives would be featured in the show as well. That is not a logical argument to support the quality of Atlas knives. The proof is in the pudding, not the popularity. ;)

B BlackCat13 They may be great knives, I don't know. Never heard of them before. I would look for as many unbiased reviews as I could find before spending that kind of money on a knife from an unknown company with hokey marketing though.

Very true!
Look at the show Dexter. Knife maniac!!
He had a $40 Benchmade and a $20 Smith & Wesson Auto. Garbage knives.

Busse doesn't need the endorsement of a TV show or movie, their reputation was made with their products.

When I'm deep in some secret tactical missions like box cutting, envelope opening, or cleaning my fingernails when I take a dump that demands "Operator Proven Reliability", I finally know where to look! These Atlas people take this far too seriously. All it needs is some bad guys and it could be a movie or video game. They charge $150 for a wittle bitty thumb knife? Wow- they really are geared towards Govt sales!

I thought the price for that lapel like thing was obscene as well. Their other stuff seems to be priced in line with the market, though on the high end. and
s30v??

Where would I get ahold of a Busse? I've heard they are really good.
Hundreds for sale on the Busse subforum. Here.

They also do frequent releases on their subprime here. That wouls be my recomendation in that price range......

Or, countless custom makers here. Seriously, in that price range, you could get any number of excellent custom knives from a number of stellar makers. Go on the custom maker for sale subforum!

Has anyone had any experience with this knife brand? They are made in the USA, with good materials. Everything seems to be sound. They are a bit pricey, so I wanted to get peoples experience on them before dropping the money on one.

Thanks!

Stainless steel for knives to be used in extreme conditions? Don’t need to read more! Just run away from it! Busse, Carothers, ESEE, Kornalski, Giedymin, Argus, Gollik, etc, they all make Knives to be used in EXTREME conditions.

I've owned a couple Atlas knives. People complain about the price (which has been marked down a good bit) but a Harbinger isn't much more than a Spartan Nyx or Ares now. Sheath retention is good. They don't come very sharp (only knives I've gotten sharp are Medford and Spyderco). I used to carry a Harbinger S. Sometimes I'd clip it between my belt and pants to avoid printing. AFAIK it was a pretty good knife, but I never needed it for anything hard use. I'd just open boxes with it and carry it for self defense.

Or one could do the same with a BM Osborne Contego in CPM S30V and save about $120, or a Kabar Boss in S35VN and save about $220.

Seems like one is paying a pretty high premium for the "intelligence brief/operator/tacticool" stuff from these guys. To me.

If you're that good , you don't need the hype and BS , generally speaking . I don't have any to tell for sure .

The same $$$$ would buy lots of Cold Steel goodness . They hype too , but also do proof videos and have established performance testimonials aplenty .:thumbsup::thumbsup:
