There is a sticky posted on another well known knife site warning members about a scammer with the exact same username who was banned there for breaking well established rules like selling items not in his immediate possession. The warning also says he unapologetically stated that he would continue to do so.

I'm pointing it out because I know if I was in a similar situation I would want it brought to my attention publicly so that I could unequivocally clear my name. Especially after posting statements like the one you made on another thread:

If you aren't the same person then here's a good chance to let everyone know in case they run across the same message. . .
 
Uhhh...What are you talking about?

Gizmoman is a well known and well respected member of this forum.

A link or more info would be appreciated.

As I stated, there is another Gizmoman on another forum that has been banned for the reasons I illustrated above. I can't post a link to another forum as it is against the rules. If the mods OK it I'll be happy to do it. I can say that the guys first name is "Keith".

Now I've seen the GIZMOMAN on this forum make repeated statements about integrity and doing the right thing. I would think that if he is not the same person he would want to know, right? If nothing else so he can clear his name. . .

And if he is the same person then I want to know that too. Why the defensive tone? I'm not accusing him of anything. If it's not him he can simply say so and if true that's the end of it right?

can't link USN forums.... well you can, but if your not a member you can't see it. There is a sticky thread at the top of the "who sucks who doesn't" forum for feedback about gizmoman. Whether that is really him or not is yet to be determined. The username has also seemingly been banned from JD as well. I guess we shall see from here as I have no dog in this fight.

Not outright scamming, but 'hustling'. How important the difference is, is up to individual interpretation.

I agree about wanting to know, but I also think people can change. If he hasn't done anything of consequence here whether it be to you or another member than why bring it up? This is technically the feedback area, not the call out area.
 
I will say this though..... if he is the same person, I'm not defending his actions. I have made a conscious effort not to do any business with him due to his seemingly bad history on other forums(if it's in fact him)..... but I have just left it alone due to not truly knowing. I usually just pass over any comments I see of his and leave it alone....


EDIT: doing a quick search through his feedback shows that his name is in fact Keith. I still think we are beating a dead horse here

Well, don't shoot the messenger.

I was doing the same for a while but I couldn't in good conscience let it go on without warning the community. I figured if not him this would be a good opportunity for him to clear himself. If it is him then a lot of his posts are pretty damn hypocritical. . .

Really? This place is full of posts warning others of potential scammers. What, we're supposed to ignore the ones that are well hidden, liked or otherwise enmeshed in the community? No one has to do anything about it just because they read something here. All are still free to do business with him or not as they see fit. But I think they have a right to know who they are dealing with.

Especially if the guy has been banned from possibly two other forums and is constantly criticizing others for similar antics.

I sure as hell won't if it turns out to be him simply due the multitude of past posts he's made concerning "integrity", etc. . .

Out of curiosity, how would he prove he is not the individual you say he may be? Is there really a way now that you have asked, or publically commanded. Would a pm/email to him not have been a tad more tactful or warranted first?

This seems like a witch hunt imo.

Pretty easy actually. So no, not so much a witch hunt as outing a hypocrite. I don't like liars or thieves. Especially ones that constantly pontificate self righteously about integrity and honor.

It's a pretty small community . .

I just looked up Gizmoman on the JD. He is NOT banned.

Can you expand on the pretty easy part. Im not worried about the rest. How could he prove he is not who you say he may be. No ill feelings. I just dont see a way.

OK, you seem pretty bent on defending him so let me break it down for you. Seems to me that logic would dictate if the other guy has a different name and contact info that would be a pretty good indication it's not him right?
 
Seems a lot of hearsay if you don't know first hand I would hold the comments. it's not fair to just spew rumors for the fact of posting. Not cool at all.

BP G ,in our previous exchange on the other thread, my concern was calling out a member publicly without proof. I have no problem with scammers / thieves or hypocrites being exposed, but but in my opinion a email or PM to the member in question beforehand to get a sense of outright denial vs. explaining previous actions would be a better way to address initial concerns.

Also you inquired as to whether I had a vested interest, the answer is "no". (But I did PM him a heads up on your post)

My $.02 FWIW
