August 2020 Buck of the Month - Released

It is an attractive knife! I am waiting to see photos of actual knives.

By the time that I got the email from Buck, they were gone.

my problem is always that I get up at 1pm every day.

I sleep 0500 to 1300hrs. By the time that I pull my emails, it is 1400hrs. I regularly miss the boat on many limited releases.

I gave up worrying about it, if I get one, fine. If not, oh well.

*Plus, I told my wife to quit buying stuff. I cannot really buy knives now!

I missed out as well. Darn work day schedule. I was slammed today and had no time to get in. eBay market for me as well I guess.

The same old story. It's either $200 plus, or it sells out in two hours. The Buck of the Month deal borders on idiocy.

guess like a spyderco sprint run somewhat. same issues. I guess they aren't sure what sells and what doesnt for amount made, but I know some collectors like limited counts. i don't care about that myself. stuff I like they can keep making it if it sells. I'm good with that. others want that 1 of 50 or whatever setup and a low number if numbered. I could care less about that. sure im the odd one on that.

Considering the number of people signed up to get the emails from Buck and Buck only making 200 of them, and an order limit of 3 per person, it's no surprise that unless you're camped out on email or the Buck website at the time of the announcement, odds are short in getting them before being sold out.

I'm a late riser too and missed out.

Hmm, riddle me this. All day I haven’t received anything from Buck on email till just now I got two emails that came in. The botm was time stamped 8:58 am and the other 9:49 am stating thanks for stopping by. Huh! I bought the knife at 12:20 pm and received a confirmation from PayPal for the purchase but nothing from Buck confirming the purchase as of yet. I hope the order went though okay.

I ordered one. got an email from Buck showing it. then ordered another as I decided I wanted one for the collection and thought they'd go fast. haven't gotten an email from Buck on that one. so be it. hopefully one of y'all got it instead.

Hello all.

This being my first post to this forum I would like to give a shout out to both Makael and bucklife301 for encouraging me to check out this forum.

Regarding the BOTM, given how quickly many of them sell out, has there ever been a discussion here about creating an informal, secondary market for these knives?

As I envision it, those members fortunate enough to time it right, would purchase 2 or 3 knives with the express intent to make the extras available to forum members, at cost (plus shipping and insurance paid by the end-buyer).

At the end of a designated time period, 3 days for example, the committed sellers and buyers are tallied. If there are more buyers than sellers, then pull buyers names from a hat. If there are more sellers than buyers, there are potential profits to be made on the 'bay.'

welcome over here on the Buck forum. lots of good folks here and those two fellas ya mentioned are in that group.

Perhaps it is already posted somewhere here on the forum, if not, I have a what I believe is a complete list of all BOTM. It is in the form of a spreadsheet. I attempted, unsuccessfully, to post it. If there is any interest in such a list, I will give it another go.

That would be a great resource, especially for those of us that are just getting started on the collecting side of BOTM. BTW, how long has this program been in existence?
