Aus 8 suggestions

Why is this your choice of steel?

I'd think generally people choose a knife based on price and it just happens to have AUS8 steel. I've never heard of someone who would seek it out.

If you change your mind, Kershaw or Spyderco should have something in your price range with a better steel.

I seek it out. It's easy to maintain, holds an edge well, I know how it performs, and it's reasonably priced.

Consider the Kabar Dozier Large (or not large) Folding Hunter. Great, functional folding knife for the price.

I like AUS-8 as well for the already mentioned reasons.

And I second the recommendations for knives like the Tri-Ad lockback Cold Steel selections, the RAT-1 and most especially the Dozier folders from KA-BAR. They are among my very favorite knives of all time.
