This is some of the wood I just received in a shipment from Western Australia. The supplier stated that the wood is less than one year old so you should wait a little while before using. BBarnett uses the same wood from the same supplier. His recommendation was to let it sit for 12 months before using so it can fully dry and acclimate.

I suggest following Mr Barnett's advice since he is a knife maker with hands on experience using this wood. If you have the self discipline to wait, this is some really dramatic wood. I sanded it up real good and sealed it so it will look pretty for you while you wait. I have a couple pieces on my desk I am keeping there just to look at.

US Shipping is $2.50 for 1 block or free if you get 2 or more. Canada Shipping is $10 for up to 4 blocks. The rest of the world is $12 for up to 4 blocks. My address to make payment through paypal is itsaburl@hotmail.com.

When you decide which blocks you want, just post "I'll take #s ......" and I will mark them sold for you.

I'll take 717, 722 & 731, I would take a lot more but I'm already in the doghouse...

Mark, I'm trying to save up for a grinder, can you knock off the beautiful exotics for a bit?!?

Mark,
Would you recommend stabilizing these?
Greg

You have to let them finish drying first before having them stabilized.
My opinion is that the wood looks so danged cool that it would be worth spending an extra $5 or so to stabilize them when they are ready.

Otherwise, they are all hard dense woods with the exception of the lace sheoak. It seemed to compare to maple in hardness to me.

If you just use a file that leaves you almost $2000 left over to spend on wood.

I seriously can't believe there's any left... I want to buy a lot more (at least 1 of each!) but my wife doesn't see it the same as I do ;)

Guys,
We dont have stabilisers here in Australia so dont stabilise any of our native timbers, but best of all, it doesnt need stabilising. 90% of it wouldnt accept any stabiliser anyway. Sheoak does not reqiure stabilising either and is very very stable.
Cheers Bruce
