There are still some awesome pieces left here.

The Lace Sheoak has really vivid colors and that strange webbing.

The York Gum Burl has really cool 3 dimensional bubbles all over them.

The Black Mulga is darker in real life. In the same family as Koa and Gidgee.

The Rib Fruited Mallee has some of the most figure in a small area that I have ever seen.

Just because the red burls looked so awesome, don't let that make you overlook this other stuff.

Hey Mark,

I just moved and FINALLY got the internet hooked up. Sorry I haven't squared up with you yet, please email me with my total including the sets of ironwood scales we had talked about.

Again, sorry for the delay in payment. I was hoping that with the delay my wife would give the approval for a couple more blocks but alas... She cut me off.

By the way, what's the best location to keep this wood for the next year? Set out in the garage? I really have no idea where the best place to dry would be.

Thanks!

I'm really eyeballing that york gum, but funds are lower than expected. Student loans come in 2 weeks...hopefully some is left by then.

I would just put them on a shelf somewhere out of direct sunlight and forget about them until next year.

If these all go away I still have some stashed. I am surprised not many are selling here. The people who see them in person are going goofy over them. Somehow a bunch of knife makers have found out where I am and they keep showing up every few days.

Hmmm, if that's the case, I might give you a call in 1.5 weeks when loan money comes in.

I'm also thinking about heading down to the knife show in Boise.

Aaron,
I got these shipped today along with the maple and some real good ironwood scales. I hope you like them. Congrats on the house. I bet the kids love it.
Your friend, Mark

Also how thin can you cut the scales on other wood that is ready to be cut. is 1/8 the thinnest or can you go thinner? I PM you earlier but no sure if you got it or not.

i think i might have to start collecting some of the gidyea wood that's just lying around the paddocks near me....

If you can find ringed gidgee with good figure and no cracks it would be worth your effort.
I don't mean to sound discouraging but most will be firewood. We get the same thing around here with redwood. Less than 5% will have burl or good enough figure to be used for anything. Then you need to deal with the cutting, milling and drying. You will go through a lot of wood to get a little bit that is usable. Looking at the exterior of the wood will give you a good idea what is inside. Good luck, you just might come across some real treasure.

Mark - Got my wood today and holy hell! This stuff is heavy, dense and BEAUTIFUL! I am really excited to get to use this stuff, thank you so much for making me wait a freaking year before I can touch it! ;)

Anyway, you won't be getting this wood sent back, that's for sure! (like I've ever sent anything before, just sayin'...)

Thanks again!

I have been putting a label on these saying "Ready to use 09/2011". This stuff is too pretty to take the chance of messing it up by not waiting till it's ready. 1 year might be overkill but I am going with Barnett's advice on this stuff.

I agree, and appreciate the stickers, and won't be touching it till next September to be on the safe side. Definitely not wood I am willing to screw up.
