We've gone live with the new automated (instant activation) subscription system, and it can be accessed through your User CP -> Paid Subscriptions. Choose the appropriate level of membership and go to town.

When you get to the payment screen, DO NOT FILL IN ANYTHING IN THE CUSTOMER ID FIELD. THE SOFTWARE KNOWS YOUR USERNAME ALREADY.

If you get an error about your billing address not matching what your card lists, you'll need your proper billing address for the charge to go through. Non US customers will most likely not be able to use this system at all and will have to use the previous system for their membership upgrades, and will be charged at the old rates since we have to enter each one manually.

If you have any questions, or problems, please post them here, not elsewhere on the website. I'll do my best to help you out.

If you try this system and encounter a problem, make a post here. I will need to know your LAST NAME, DATE OF ATTEMPT, and LAST FOUR of your credit card. DO NOT PUT YOUR FULL CREDIT CARD NUMBER IN THIS THREAD.

Since the system is automated, I'm putting in a price reduction for the Gold & KnifeMaker memberships - Gold memberships are now $25 a year, Knifemaker memberships are now $40.

I've also activated Platinium Memberships for those who are interested in more private message storage, more image attachment storage and other features. Platinum members get 100 private messages, 5mb of image attachments, the ability to change their custom titles, upload profile pictures of themselves, and the ability to close their own threads. Price for Platinum memberships is $50 a year.

The new membership system has more than a few advantages. For one, you don't have to wait on my lazy ass to get around to getting you activated. For another, you can sign up for however many years you'd like. Plus, there won't be any more screw ups with your profile accidentally being shut off if someone's been drinking heavily. So, in summation, it removes a lot of the human out of the equation, hooray!

Thanks for your support.

Spark, I renewed my membership a few days ago, receipt order confirmation #44044. I checked today to see if my new expiry date was showing in my profile and all it said was, New System. There was no date at all. How does the new system work as far as notification of expiry dates is concerned?

This is just for interests sake, but since I used the old system, was I charged $30.00 or $25.00? Hopefully the reduced prices will result in more members going for upgraded memberships, but as far as I am concerned $30.00 was a very fair price.

Reread the post Keith. User CP -> Paid Subsciptions. It will show where your experation date is. Since you are in Canada, you had to be manually done, hence the $30 charge.

Thanks Spark.

If the fact that I am in Canada means that I can't use the Automatic Membership System, does that also mean that I can't opt for the Platinum membership? It seems that the only place that is available is on the Automatic Membership System. If I do want to upgrade, how do I go about it?

I have a couple questions regarding the new system:

For gold members, what are the PM and storage limitations? Are the number of PMs per year, per month, per week? Is that number for total that can be sent, or just what can be stored?

Inquiring minds want to know.

John

The PM limit is how many you can have stored at once. It's 40 for gold members, if I recall correctly. That's not really a problem if you keep deleting them, but if you let them pile up you'll reach the limit and won't be able to receive a message until you delete one.

Phil, your CC AVS declined - apparently your bank doesn't have AVS set up on your card, and it was declined on our end as a result. Try with an alternate card if possible.

It's applied to everyone

Spark--Tried to re-up my gold membership yesterday, 8/24/04. Last name-Gerard, CC # 4095. Got a message that the expiration date was not accurate. This is the same card used to pay my internet bills, but was just renewed the day before with the new expiration date. Maybe give it another try. If probs. please let me know.

Best Dick

Came up with the address problem mate. Will this be rectified in the near future or is Australia still on you banned c/c list...

From the first post: Non US customers will most likely not be able to use this system at all and will have to use the current system for their membership upgrades, and will be charged at the old rates since we have to enter each one manually.
Australia is not a part of the US yet. Sorry.

...hmmm, and the 'current system' still says there is an error...

Tell me Mr. Sarcasm, do you want me to have a Gold membership or not?

Ummm.. I don't want to appear especially dim but I can't find anywhere in CP>Pais subscriptions where it tells me what my expiration date is. I'm not tryingt o renew, just see when it expires. Does this also not work for non us subscribers?

Click on your own name at the top of any of your posts to see your profile. Then look on the lower left where it says

6/9/2005

Gajinoz - find a thread where you have posted and left click on your name. Choose see public profile. Your gold membership date is in the main body of the text. Yours expires on 6/9/2005
