My wife was getting ready to cook and dropped a raw chicken wing on the floor and the pup grabbed it and took off running LMAO

You'd think he won the lottery, i took it from him for a second so i could lure him back into the kitchen so he doesnt make a mess on the carpet and when i gave it back to him he ran around my legs all excited before he started eating it again.

My wife screams.. WHAT ARE YOU DOING, DONT GIVE IT BACK TO HIM CHICKEN BONES ARE BAD... I just laughed, cooked ones are bad, raw is the natural way and especially the wings are great for a dog. the bones are soft and act as a toothbrush. I told the wife, "so who takes away the bones in the wild" LMAO.

I hope he like raw fish too, id love to take him fishing with me and toss him the occasionally small one, or when im cleaning the fish give him the organs.

I know people who only feed their dogs raw meat mixed with a small amount of veggies or fruit, i would do that too, but i want the convenience of being able to feed kibble as well. But i am thinking of going to a kibble/raw diet and doing raw meat a couple times a week.

Hell chicken is cheaper than the dog food i get now too. Im using Blue Wilderness, its 60 a bag and wont last 2 months the way he eats now.

I want to try some raw fish and rabbit now that i seen him with that chicken wing LOL I know rabbit is OK, ill have to do some reading to figure out which fish is OK.

Hey WW,

We feed raw food to our boys. Raw chicken wings, back and necks have never been a problem as the raw bones tend to be softer and therefore don't splinter

Proud owner of a brand new Mossberg SPX 930 12 gauge YES ! Picked up another 50 rounds of 00 buck too, and got 100 bucks off my purchace for getting a Dick's charge card today ...lol
Gonna pay off the charge then cancel it probably. I dont like having a buncha cards, but the saving couldnt be argued with.

Thats awesome man, where do you get the back/necks? And do you feed any fish?

There is something really cool about watching a pup eat a hunk of raw meat. Even my wife thought it was cool to watch after she did a quick google check because she still thought i was wrong HAHA but now she thinks its awesome.

 very nice

Well, got the hole dug, the post tamped in and...... I can't find the stupid little bag with my cable swedges for extending the guy wires to the new post. Had to apply some redneck engineering since the nearest place to get them is 22 miles one-way. I'll get them Monday.

Here's the tools - all manual labor today - can't get the tractor with the post hole attachment into this area. I did it the old fashioned way. Used the 9 to cutout overgrown. winter kill Johnson grass, the earth fork to start the hole, a manual auger to bore 3 8" diameter holes in a triangle pattern and finally, the scissor post hole digger to clean up the sides, and a 20 lb breaker bar for use as the tamper.

After I got the hole dug out to 40"+ deep, I put the pole in and started back-filling. An inch of dirt with a 1/2" of pea gravel on top, then pound away with the breaker bar - 50 tamps on each side. Repeat until hole is full. A post will literally break off at the ground before it pulls out when installed this way. It sets up almost as hard as concrete but no water is usually required - even in the drough we've been having, the black Houston clay soil was dampish below 4 inches.

I have fence lines in the pastures that were old and rusty when I was born nearly 60 years ago and they're still hanging in there. Some of them have rotted off (cedar posts last a LONG time) and had to be replaced, but that's the only way these will stay upright in our black clay gumbo dirt. A shallow hole (15 - 24 inches) with concrete poured around it will start leaning in just a couple of years.

Here's the post in, with the cables attached using ratchet straps to hold them in place until I buy the wire swedges Monday.

No Becker content, but please accept a custom for my tribute of knife picture... even if it is a crappy phone pic.

Also saw a peckerhead.... He reminded me of you guys. :p

They look prettier when they aren't beating their noggins on the wood siding of your house.

Nice. I want one of those.

Dumb question, but who's Sophia Bush?

Some actress. The only thing I ever saw her in was the remake of The Hitcher.

Have to bury stuff here at least that deep, otherwise the freeze/thaw cycles grab the post and heave it out of the ground. Some of the backroads around here have "Frost Heave" warning signs which basically mean: "Winter has turned this once flat pavement into a roller coaster - be careful your car does not become airborne at the posted speed limit." Which it will; I have been "car jumping" on a road within five miles of here, all due to frost heaves.

Lots of raw fish. But something you might want to consider is how fish higher up on the food chain tend to have more heavy metals or other chemicals that may be problematic in the long run. It's less of an issue with most people as we don't tend to eat as much fish as some cultures. We used to do fresh fish for the dogs, but switched over to frozen sardines which we can get easily at our local super market. We used to do mackerel but switched to sardines as they are lower on the food chain and less likely to have an accumulation of heavy metals. Zack will eat them whole but Oz needs to have them cut into smaller pieces - we use poultry shears for the cutting.

Just track down a local butcher in your area (we have three within walking distance) and ask them to order you the wing/back/necks. They should also be able to order you raw beef marrow bones that are usually used for stock of roasted for human consumption. Raw marrow bones are the crack of the dog world - if Rob Ford was a dog he would be smoking marrow bones! lol

Mmmm eating meat off bones... This conversation about dog food is making me hungery
