I received my new Super SOCFK (Special Operations Combat Fighting Knife) today and for all the crap trolls bring up occasionally, this speaks volumes.

Numerous times, they don't even own an Emerson knife, they are just Internet "experts." Whatever!

Take a look at these pictures. And as we all know, a picture speaks a thousand words.

This knife is amazing. Ernest Emerson is a knife designer and manufacturer that harkens back to a time when craftsmen cared about what they produce and were proud of their products.

THANK YOU Ernest, Ann, Ernesto, and everyone else at Emerson knives for producing American-made products that so many companies today have forgotten how to do, or simply choose not to. I salute you!

Awesome knife, I love the down curve on the blade. That thing is a beast for sure.

That's a great catch. Been wanting g to grab one up, because that cqc 11 handle is just perfection.

How in the heck could Ernest let that get through QC with two clips????

;P

Great looking knife - thanks for the pictures -

best

I like Emersons and own/have owned several, but your photos don't show me good fit and finish. The scales are proud of the liners, a small gap is clearly visible to the side of the pivot screw, machining marks are left all over the liners and blade tang. And that's just what I can see from a relatively low resolution photo, so I can imagine these would be very apparent when the knife is in hand.

Us Emerson knife owners should focus on praise where praise is due and not engage in debate over fit and finish because we will never win. Emerson's sense of ergonomics and balance is unmatched. As other production companies move to much more brittle steels with thinner edge geometry, Emersons have stayed with a tried and true formula that's bombproof and user friendly. They offer a great amount of variety to suit any user and any need, while at the same time they keep the core elements the same so that re-training is not needed if the user decides to switch his choice of Emerson model and hardware is compatible between knives.

I see Emersons as hard use tools. Not really looking for a high level of fit and finish. I own many and am sastified with the build quality of them all.

That thing is pretty sweet man, kind of looks like the evolution mutant of the CQC-7. Really cool knife, neat to see one with clips on both sides of the handle too!

Before buying my first Emerson in July of 2014 I did a lot of research about the product simply because I want to make an intelligent decision. What I wound up with was a CQC-7 BW Left Handed that had a back spacer.

I gave the moving and metal part a couple of coating of Frog Lube, worked the knife open and closed in what I call a full range of motion maybe 150 to 200 times while watching TV one night. I was happy with the fit, finish, and the over quality of what I purchased.

The more I read on Internet forums about Emerson Knives, I have come to the conclusion that there is a cult of haters. That spend time going to knife, gun, and other forums that discuss knives. There mission is to pick apart, trash, and in general bad mouth Emerson or what ever else is in their sights.

These are the same people who hate Glock pistols. You can not reason with them, they will rebut facts with untruth. It is almost like listening to people running for public office, who live off lies.

I like my Emerson knives, and I did say knives. I added a Commander to my stable. I thought it was a big knife when I got it, but after carring it for a while I realize it is not that much bigger then my Seven.

On the other hand, you have apologists who focus more on dismissing valid criticism and attacking people who criticize than drawing attention to the actual strong points of the product. These are people who do not actually care about Emerson knives, but about being seen as a person who cares about Emerson knives.

OP : that knife looks incredible! i've been wanting one for a while, but budgetary constraints...let us know what you think once you've worked/played with it for some time. i for one would be interested. thanks, Neal

I have to respectfully disagree here. I agree with the rest of your statement, but the scales are very consistent all the way around and are less than 1mm above it. Once again, this is not hit and miss. It is consistent around the entire knife on both sides. Hardly "sitting proud of the liners" in my book. But that's just me perhaps. I'll take one like this any day of the week.

And "a small gap on the side of the pivot screw?" Where do you see that, because I do not. Here is the other side, also.

Yes, Emersons are tools. I get that. The point of this thread is to show that I feel that Emerson knives make as good of a knife as any other production company. Sure, they do not polish off the waterjet marks. I could care less, I actually like them.

I am not trying to be a jerk here; however, I do not feel your points hold water. Plain and simple.

BTW, the reason for two clips is I can carry it in my right pocket (strong side) when not carrying a pistol, and in my left pocket (weak side) when carrying one. It makes it easy to switch, and it does not feel weird in one's hand at all. A good friend of mine turned me on to that several years ago and several of my knives are like that.

And lastly, if any of you prefer larger knives, like I do (4" or so is my preferred length) I urge you to grab one of these while they are still available. I think you'll like it.

I agree, The CQC-11 handle is definitely my all time emerson favorite :-)

I know what you mean, John. I bought a CQC 11 - just like your bottom one, with serrations - a couple of weeks ago and that handle shape ROCKS!

Please make a distinction between fit and finish. They are not the same. The Emersons I have owned all had excellent fit. I dont think I've had bad fit from any $250 dollar knife.

Finish is Entirely different. Emerson finishing sucks. It's the same as my $60 Spyderco/Benchmade knives. Water jet marks, laser slag on the liners, Tooling, machining marks on the blades.

If you look at it from a purely value for money Emerson doesn't do well at all. 90's construction with lower end materials as compared to other $250 dollar knives.

But all the above isn't really relivant though. They feel great in your hand. They are said to be all American made. Great warrenty and CS as many report. People enjoy the Emerson story.

I hate apologists. Many of their arguments as just as outlandish and irrelevant as the people trolling/bad mouthing Emersons.

(I carry a P-tac or spyderco ulize everyday.)
