Awful day for me, lost my first and only CRK

Sorry to hear this. It won't help you now but I disassembled mine and wrote my name and phone number on the inside slab with a permanent marker. Perhaps if mine falls out like yours it will be found by someone honest.

You guys are all wonderful and thanks for helping me get thru this. I know to most people it's just a pocket knife, but for us knife guys there is just much more to a CRK and especially that first one that you work hard to save for. So I want to say thanks for letting me vent here and for all the kind words. It sucks but I will no doubt get past it and surely get another someday. I now know what all the hype is about with these knives and for sure think they are well worth the money, which is not something I ever thought I would say about a $350 pocket knife. Lol

That's a good idea but unfortunately there are many people out there who aren't honest, especially when they Google the knife and find out what it was worth. Maybe I'll have my personal info engraved on the scales of the next one. A little late for this one.

Sorry to hear this, man. I can only imagine how horrible it would feel to lose one of my CRKs. :(

I know it seems unlikely, but I pray it turns up for you.

Hi there T.K.C. Haven't seen you for a bit. Anyway, I was working on a blade last weekend and got stumped for lack of some tools and parts. So now I have the necessary bits and pieces and can't find the blade. This is a different kind of lost because it has to be right within my normal daily activity path. I think it is senility setting in.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. You sound pretty sure it won't show up, and I hope you are wrong but expect you are not.

I too have lost an expensive pocket item once, but it was a cell phone. Someone pissed me off, at a time in my life I was not as nice as a person I am now, and I threw it at their head. At the time, I didn't really care because I replaced it the same day.

I'm really sorry to hear that.. It must have been a really bad day. Especially if you made sacrifices for it.. I hope that the luck look at you, and you can find it

I hope you find it. I lost an Inkosi last week and I'm still looking for it.

Even though I've never went ahead with my long term plans to get a CRK I can definitely relate to losing knives with sentimental value or at times when replacement was going to be a financial burden. As a young kid losing my first "pearl" handle 3-blade Buck knife still bothers me today. I also remember losing but finally finding my Buck 110 when I was about 26, and recently losing a SOG pen knife clipped to my keys. After the Buck 110 "scare" I developed a very frequent (almost compulsive) routine of checking and rechecking all my pockets (knife, wallet, keys, CCW, etc). The CCW makes it all the more important too. The last 8 years I've been extremely careful with my Griptilian plain edge that I hope to carry the rest of my life and then leave for a grandchild (heirloom or not). I would be very down if it was lost and just thinking about it causes a little stress to develop. I hope your CRK turns up.

The part that really bothers me the most is that, like you, I'm extremely good about checking and rechecking my pockets and keeping my stuff nice. That's why I remember so vividly when I had it last because I checked as I went out the door. I went a long time without nice things so now a days I appreciate what I have and what I work hard to get and am so cautious about making sure I don't lose anything or even damage or scratch my things. As I mentioned earlier in this thread I carry a cheap Swiss Army knife just in case something needs cut so I don't have to use my nice knives because I know that if they get damaged I won't be able to just go out and replace them, it will take time.

I do appreciate all the nice comments here and these things happen I guess. I'm lucky that I don't lose things all the time. I will have to be even more careful in the future.

I really hope it will turn up!!! It sucks that it is gone for now!! I was sooooooo hoping it got snagged on your seatbelt.

DAMMIT, that is a crappy thing, losing a knife you held so dear! Breathe deep and know that you'll get another, eventually.

Very upsetting situation. It is a knife and replaceable. I keep mine clipped to all my clothing and walk 4 miles fast everyday. I never once had an issue with losing my small sebenza. I also carry mine everyday. You need to slow down in daily life from the sounds of things. You need to also buy and enjoy material things for you only. I have only showed one friend my knife and it was nothing special to him and he owns benchmade. It's a freaking knife. Use it as a tool. Keep it in your pocket until it's time to cutilize something. Until then, cuddle with your teddy bear your grandma gave you!

I'm really not a fast paced person, and certainly not clumsy or forgetful. Usually I don't ever show anyone my knives, but the guys at the range and I had struck up a bit of a relationship and liked talking knives. There aren't too many folks who even know what a decent knife is around in your daily life, so it was kind of neat to have a few people that I see when I go shooting to share my passion with. I just didn't want you thinking that I carry a knife so I can show others because it couldn't be further from the truth. The Sebenza was bought to fulfill my own desires and for nothing else. As I mentioned, it was just kind of cool to have a few guys to chat knives with in person and not just thru a computer. I had carried the knife a few other times as well and the one thing I was really impressed with was the pocket clip and it's retention. So I'm not only upset, but also surprised that it was lifted from my pocket. I have other knives with clips that are more slick and have less retention and I've never even had them slide out of my pocket on the couch. So whatever the knife hooked on was strong enough to really yank it out of the pocket and I would've thought that I would've felt that.

For good measure I've retraced my steps again this morning, looked in the car again "for the 10th time", and even went back over to the gas station to see if anything turned up and couldn't help but take another walk around the pumps to see if it was miraculously laying there looking up at me. Nothing has turned up though. It's not the end of the world but yeah it sucks. I'll just start putting away a little at a time and start the process over again. Granted my Sebenza was my most expensive but I really had my knives down to a few that I really like so I don't want to sell any of those off to fund another purchase so I'm just going to sit tight and hopefully time will pass quickly and I'll end up getting another Sebenza and having a story to tell.

Thanks again to all those here with kind words and fingers crossed.

I would have enjoyed you sharing your knife at the range. And you will, again.

Unfortunately, these stories do come up now and then.
You are a member of a club to which membership is exclusive. Sadly, I am a member of the same club.

I hope that you find your knife as this membership really wasn't something you need apply for...Just bad luck

Good luck OP! I hope that you can get out of the club as quickly as you got in!
