Awful day for me, lost my first and only CRK

Unfortunately, these stories do come up now and then.
You are a member of a club to which membership is exclusive. Sadly, I am a member of the same club.

I hope that you find your knife as this membership really wasn't something you need apply for...Just bad luck

Good luck OP! I hope that you can get out of the club as quickly as you got in!

Oh it definetely happens. I guess you just try to keep these types of circumstances to a minimum. As I've said. I'm so good with keeping my stuff both in my possession and in good shape. It's literally been years since I've lost anything. Just a hell of a way to end the good streak. Thanks for the kind words.

I'm really not a fast paced person, and certainly not clumsy or forgetful. Usually I don't ever show anyone my knives, but the guys at the range and I had struck up a bit of a relationship and liked talking knives. There aren't too many folks who even know what a decent knife is around in your daily life, so it was kind of neat to have a few people that I see when I go shooting to share my passion with. I just didn't want you thinking that I carry a knife so I can show others because it couldn't be further from the truth. The Sebenza was bought to fulfill my own desires and for nothing else. As I mentioned, it was just kind of cool to have a few guys to chat knives with in person and not just thru a computer. I had carried the knife a few other times as well and the one thing I was really impressed with was the pocket clip and it's retention. So I'm not only upset, but also surprised that it was lifted from my pocket. I have other knives with clips that are more slick and have less retention and I've never even had them slide out of my pocket on the couch. So whatever the knife hooked on was strong enough to really yank it out of the pocket and I would've thought that I would've felt that.

For good measure I've retraced my steps again this morning, looked in the car again "for the 10th time", and even went back over to the gas station to see if anything turned up and couldn't help but take another walk around the pumps to see if it was miraculously laying there looking up at me. Nothing has turned up though. It's not the end of the world but yeah it sucks. I'll just start putting away a little at a time and start the process over again. Granted my Sebenza was my most expensive but I really had my knives down to a few that I really like so I don't want to sell any of those off to fund another purchase so I'm just going to sit tight and hopefully time will pass quickly and I'll end up getting another Sebenza and having a story to tell.

Thanks again to all those here with kind words and fingers crossed.
I enjoy reading your posts! Also, thank you for setting me straight on the type of person you are. Sometimes you can be to careful with things. Just use the knife as a tool but you might want to put a safety sling on your next sebenza. I have never had mine even come close to coming out of my pocket while clipped. You will never know what happened but life goes on. Save up for a new or used one on the exchange. Never know, might find the damn thing 2 months from now. Now go hug your teddy bear!

I lost a William Henry once. Like you I turned my car upside down. I looked everywhere and retraced my steps. No luck at all. I gave up. The next fall I put on a jacket and there was my knife hanging from a cord on the jacket. I of course checked the pockets but not the cord. I was without it for months before I found it.

Hope your Sebenza shows up.

Sometimes, we have such a routine(being anal) about our habits, that we think we've checked everything like always, can swear that we've checked and have no doubt whatsoever the item was on our person that you become frantic when you go for the item and it's not on your person. Then, after a while when it's found, there's such a sigh of relief and feeling of ridiculousness that you're embarrassed to mention your moment of mind loss.
Ask me how I know.
I hope there's a chance that you'll have to retract your worries and feel just a little silly about the whole ordeal.

Now you have really big problems. Hell with the knife, go find that teddy bear.

Lonewolf, that cat looks comfortable. I love all animals but cats are extra special!

I lost a Large micarta insingo around a year ago. Still makes me sick when I think about it. I still hope one day it'll show up but I have no idea
where about I was when it went missing. I think it might have been taken when I was at work but I just don't know. Good luck to you and
hope you can find your Sebenza.

Very cute photo LW. I may have lost my knife and lost my "teddy bear" but I've still got my best buddy "Baxter"

Maybe we can change this from a "sad lost my knife" thread, to a "show pictures of our loving pets" thread. That's always a happy subject. Lol

Sorry to hear about your misfortune - losing your Small Sebenza Insingo... Man, that is rough!

I have one CRK folder, a Sebenza 25 and I would be not worth shooting if it went missing. If I have on a shirt that has good sized pockets - like a denim or wool shirt, I will carry it buttoned up in a shirt pocket. The feeling of its ever present weight in that pocket is comforting (something you might consider for carrying).

We can all learn a lesson form your misfortune; watch those damn seat belts and be vigilant with your knives; check to be sure you still have your knife every time you enter or exit your vehicle. When I carry my Sebenza in a pants pocket, I don't use the clip; I carry only the knife in that pocket and bury it deep in the pocket. Then I put an 8x8 in microfiber camera lens cleaning cloth in on top of it to prevent it from coming out.

Like you, I am very careful with my possessions; they don't come easily I could not afford to replace my Seb 25 if I lost it so I am vigilant. Still, a man can be as careful as humanly possible, but sometimes a series of events will stack up against you and cause the worst to come to pass. This is what it sounds like happened in your situation. It sucks HARD but your lost Sebenza can be replaced in time.

Hang in there, man. Better days are ahead of you...

Sorry to hear this sad news brother. I too am a lonely member of the I Lost My Sebenza Club. I lost a large 21 silver dog paws Sebenza. Still makes me sick. For awhile I had a 4 CRK rotation in a nice little maxpedition pouch I got for free from a dealer. I would swap them out every few days. When not in use, all 4 would be in the pouch. When I needed a knife one day you can imagine my surprise when I noticed the Sebenza was missing. I looked high and low and have never found it. That's been about 3 years ago or so now. The worst part is that I did not know it was missing, so it was hard retracing a few days steps. I still miss it and I hope if someone found it, they appreciate it as much as I did. I still have hope that it will pop up someday though...!!!

This is a sad story, man. I have lost more than one knife in my day, none of which were as valuable or as hard to attain as your Sebenza though. I too do the daily pocket dance at least 20 times a day to make sure the bulk in my pocket is as it should be. I have a similar story, but definitely not the same. When I was younger, I had a Tool (the band) baseball cap I had bought at one of their shows. It had a lot of sentimental value to me. Anyways, I was napping on the couch with the hat over my eyes to shade the sun. I woke up and the hat was gone. I casually checked the floor beside me. Nothing. I checked the couch and the cushions. Nothing. At this point I was frustrated. I checked a 15 foot radius around me, but to no avail. I was confused and kind of angry because 30 minutes ago the hat was on my head. Nobody else was in the house that I eventually tore apart thinking I may have slept walked. After a solid hour of search and rescue I still didn't find the hat. I ultimately gave up as my temper was short in those times. Days went on, I replaced the hat, and basically it's concept evaded my mind. I'd say one or two weeks later I walked into the same living room where I napped the day this happened and my Tool hat was lying at the foot of the couch nearest the wall. I know I checked there at least 488274 times but it was there nonetheless. Moral of the story, in haste and frustration we either lose sight of what is right in front of us, or the fabric of space can glitch and periodically things can disappear void of physical interference. ;)

I hope it shows up. I really do. Meditate on it. Dream about it. It'll happen! I have faith! If it doesn't, just remember it's a material item (I'm not saying this derogatorily as we're all in the same hobby), and that it wasn't your pet or a loved one. I know what it's like to work for everything you own. Your first CRK is only the beginning of an addiction; you just misplaced your stash is all. :D

I like the direction of this thread now much better than before. A day has passed and I'm feeling a little better although it will no doubt leave a mark for quite some time, I'm pushing thru and smiling at all the cute animal pics here now. :D
