No etching here!
Hammer forging apparently does not leave the surface completely smooth, so all I did was sand off most of the nasty black enamel paint and left some of it in the surface pits and valleys

That's a great shot, nice lighting, computer versus ancient tool good detail and a nice hawk. I would darken the laptop a little more.

Been working on a CS Spike Tomahawk for the last few days. Should have it done tomorrow afternoon. So far it is looking spectacular.

That's a Norwegian Mustad carpenter's axe. The same Mustad that makes fish hooks today! The steel is flat-out incredible. Here's a thread on the axe:

I actually had no intention of setting up the photo like that, but I appreciate the advise!

When I finished sanding the head, it was too dark out, and the best lighting readily available was at my desk where my laptop is, so I snapped this photo real quick with your average DSLR with no fancy settings

Beautiful axes and hawks guys! All of mine have appeared on other threads. I'll see if I can find some pics of ones that have not appeared. Keep the pics coming for I am loving it.
