Been lurking here for awhile. Just want an opinion. I recently decided I'd like to try and get into bali's and was wondering what would be a good midrange flipper to start with. If I could go back in time, I'd pick up a spyderfly or smallfly but alas, I cannot. Any recommendations?

I think you might have better luck posting this in General or in the balisong forum if there is one.

Will it do as good as a machete? Because I need a machete and was thinking about getting a kukri instead. It just looks so different I'm not sure about it.

A kukri is like a knife mated with an axe. Great chopping power but you have to be well versed to effectively use it as a do-all knife, just like with an axe or machete.

A kukri machete, like the one I'm referring to, has the benefits of a machete in that it is thin, cuts very well, and does detail work moderately well. Being a kukri style, it has a very powerful cut. I'd compare it to the CS heavy machete which is like a beavertail machete. However, since it isn't as thick as a true kukri, you have to treat it like a machete and less like an axe. Meaning big trees are out, but everything else will be destroyed.

I was wondering if any of you have any experience with the bm mini grip or becker bk16. I am thinking of saving my money and getting these but i wanted to hear some opinions first. Thanks, Jake

My mini-grip 555(HG) is by far my favorite knife and it gets the most pocket time, I literally have to fight with myself to pick up another knife in its place on the days I don't carry it, that's how much I like it. I just recently traded my black scales to a guy on here for yellow ones which I dyed dark red and that made me like it even more. Just last weekend my good friend used it and expressed interest in one so I found a great deal in a full-size and ordered it for him. The scales are a little different than G10 but chemically almost identical to FRN, they feel a little different cause they're somewhat thicker than say spyderco's FRN scales but I sure as heck wouldn't call them cheap. There's certainly nothing wrong with them.

I am about 98% sure a set of G10 Wilkins scales will be my big gift from Santa this year, my wife has specifically mentioned them as something not to buy myself before hand, and to tell her if I find a set in the color I want (swimming pool green) used, I'm pretty sure that means santa's bringing me a set. Can't wait!

Ok, I'll take it.

To keep it going forward. I'll offer up:
1. Kabar Dozier Folding Hunter in OD green with a black Aus8 blade
2. Gerber Suspension multitool, brand new w/sheath

I'll take the gerber multitool if you don't mind.

And to keep it going forward I'm still offering a RR trapper in saw cut bone. Only used to shred paper. Nice tight Spey and clip blades.

Somebody put up a Griptilian 550HG, Kershaw Lahar, Shallot composite, or something else I'd love ;)
