In both yours and tonym's kit, I see OtterBoxes. For firestarting stuff or something else?
I use 'em for kayaking, but I don't have one in my B.O.B. kit.

I carry a small Pelican case to store batteries in.

You have a picture of the new bag? What make and model is it?

This is it Don http://cgi.ebay.com/CANVAS-SHOULDER...QQptZUS_CSA_MWA_Backpacks?hash=item58854e4961

You need to get your Ultralight on, man. :D

Yup, don't we all?

That's very true. They hold a lot of stuff. I humped a Medium ALICE into work on Friday night in case I was snowed in, and I almost was, and I don't even want to know what it weighed.

I use the ALICE packs at home as our main Get out of Dodge bags (BOB's) One for each of us with our names on them. Nothing fancy, but the easily hold the kids snow gear in winter and extra blankets, etc. All sitting at the top of the stairs, right out side the bedroom, ready to be tossed out the window in the event we can not go down the front stairs and out the door. My wife and I update them spring and fall. Tough packs, no doubt.

I chose the otter box because it is waterproof to 100ft, while the pelican case is not waterproof at all (check their website).

I use it to store stuff that I dont want getting wet - ie if I fall through ice in the winter, etc. So right now I keep a flashlight, all spare batteries, a bic lighter, a 4GB usb stick, and at 25' duct tape card in it.

Interesting. I have two Otter Boxes, but I also have a 1010 Pelican in which I've long kept my camera. The Pelican site does indeed state:

GREAT FOR RUGGED SPORTS - NOT FOR SWIMMING OR SUBMERGING

and

Water resistant, crushproof, and dust proof

Not waterproof. Hmmm... Well, no harm, no foul. No accidents so far with my existing camera.

I'm getting a Pentax W80 soon for outdoor pics. The camera itself is waterproof and shockproof.

I've got a small go bag. Has a RC-4 in it, some rope (want to replace with paracord) a surefire torch, as well as a pretty extensive FAK. Have a spare USB in there, as well as two bic lighters and a hipflask of Irish whiskey. :D

I'm using a Maxped Remora. It's definitely a work in progress.

I have a maxpedition fatboy jumbo. Currently the only things residing in it are para cord, my bacho laplander saw, and my RAT 5 attached to the molle webbing. My other stuff is in my BOB and I have a separate truck kit.

like most of the urban guys here my EDC and BOB are the same pack. A MEC Brio 40L toploader. the main things are a fairly well stocked one person FAK with lots of convenience stuff, a small packtowel, wool socks (light in summer, heavy in winter), Izula, paracord and a heatsheet bivy. I also have other random EDC stuff, like an opinel and spork for eating, but I leave lots of extra room for the "mission specific" stuff. my big concern is walking out of downtown, which is about 16km and involves a river

Perhaps I am a bit dense. Are you posting things you have & asking about things you don't have? If this is your B.O.B. it is very impressive. I assume this is not a daily carry but a sit out home bag for shtf.
