Last night I went on a little hike up to Silver Lake in American Fork Canyon here in Utah. On our way up we came across a dead tree that was completely blocking the path. I commented to one of my buddies that on our way down we would take care of that and clear the path. He just rolled his eyes at me and we continued on.
On our way back down we made it back to the tree and I asked him if he was ready. He made a comment to the effect that he really didn't think we could do it.
I started chopping and chunks of wood started flying. It was a hard old tree but I started blowing through it quick. I let my buddy spell me a few times because my arm needed a break but about 10-15 minutes later we did it. Needless to say it blew his mind. Then I took the edge to my leg and shaved off some hair and his jaw dropped.
This is the first time I really put the B11 through its paces and it did not disappoint. It still remains my absolute favorite big Busse user. I'm sure my NMFBM would blow through wood a little faster but with the res-c handle and the lighter weight, even on my pack, and coming in at less than half the price, it just can't be beat.
So, in the spirit of "pics or it didn't happen" here are some really bad phone pics showing where we were and the before and after of the log.
It was getting dark when we came down so these pics are bad, but they show what we did.
