B13

B13:

(1) INFI
(2) DCBB or satin
(3) Regulator handle
(4) Steel Heart tip profile.

I'll probably buy it even if I cannot have preferences 3 and 4, but I will not buy it unless it is INFI. I likely will not buy it with a coated blade. I have many SY 1311 that work well enough.

13oom is coming... we need 13asic!

Well, the parang is a hint at what we're asking for. Just a little longer with res-c, INFI and straightened out then... 13oom! :D

Of the two, the B13 would be my choice, Blades down!

(See what I did there, I was gonna say... well you get it. )

What thickness of blade ARE we talking here? .25 or better with a high flat grind and a convex edge?

Sweet!

Mine too. I am very tempted by the new canvas options on the Parang... 13ut it's still not a B13.
13ring it!

^Agreed, I totally ignored that part of his post... oops. Thinner is 13etter!

Trust me, you want thin. I picked up a Moabolo this summer. Thick! Adds to the force generated during chopping, but wears you out. That sucker is HEAVY! We are looking at several more inches in length for the B13, you definitely want it thin.

Little Hoot,

It is a heck of a game, as a maker to get just the right balance among all the elements of a good design. There was mention of the characteristics of the B13 which has a straighter tip. Little tweets can make big changes. Funny how it works.

That's true! I am merely speaking from personal experience. I don't want extremely thin, probably a little less than 1/4, or in that neighborhood. I also personally like the Bolo style blade, even if it's more expensive, as I like the force available at the "sweet" spot.

Ymmv, I only speak for myself.

One more post because, at this moment, with this post, this thread equals the post count in the "who's drinking?" Thread. Pretty lofty territory now folks. Next stop is 2k posts!

Kind of interesting is, the new Boom Parang offering, while not bolo, has the feature that the blade gets wider from the ricasso to the tip.

Not infi, and doesn't mean much probably, but I take it as a good sign.
