B8 vs. TG (& other 7-8" blades)

No of course brother --- actually user testimony is super crucial. So I appreciate your take on it. I will test out my TGLB against my Scrap Yard Regulator to double check to see if I've missed something. I'll fill everyone in once I do. Cheers!

No substitute for actual USE...there's a lot of variables to be considered for sure...so, I agree 110%, Rob.

Testimony from stand up HOGS here has turned me on to a couple real fine models that I would have otherwise not bothered with just because they "looked" like they would not be practical for my uses.

I believe it was a post by Rob that turned me on to the Chophouse. Viewed strictly as a user, I don't know that you could find a better blade. Much appreciated, Rob[emoji106]

We're definitely all in agreement on this ---- as for how amazing the Chophouse Thick Cut is ---- I still think it's one of the best user models ever released. I optimized my edge and the shoulders and then hammered it into some old dried out oak. I was so impressed!

If I'm honest with myself... then the Basic series of knives really are the best knives Jerry produces...

That said, have you handled a TGLB? Or even better a TGC?!!!!! If not, treat yourself! You'll soon see that those knives are NEXT LEVEL. I really can't see either the B8 or any Team Gemini being a bad purchase!

Agree totally with the Basic 8 being overall the Best for the Money-No Doubt, However I have very high hopes for the Bunker Buster!!!

Never handle B8 but I do agreed that TGLB is far too thick at the edge for most practical usage.

No, I haven't handled any of the TG's yet, hence the curiosity.

Been trying to tell myself I have this size well covered with the B8LE and BGHR, but there are so many options I'm tempted to try out some of the others. I probably will in good time. :)

I have a satin B8, a Ratweiler, Trash 1, and a Rodent 7 in that side range. I like the Rodent 7 best for an all around user. It has a little more heft than the B8, a better all around handle design than a B8 (once you get used to it and have big hands), and it is cheaper which is good for a user.

The B8 is a great blade, they all are, but the Rodent 7 is just right. I wish it came INFI though.

I'm waiting on a Trash 2 and Bunker Buster LE too, but I'll have to compare those.

I'm not a TB fan because of the guards, but I kinda like the SHE Ergo 2.

No way a TG hangs with a SHe2 or Ratweiler, or a 711 for that matter. I am, admittedly, not a TG fan, but that's being objective.

Don't have the SHe2, but I have both Ratweilers (thick and thin) as well as BGTG. BGTG is the best of the three in my hand, for ergos and chopping ability. BGTG and skinny 'weiler have my edge on them, fatweiler is factory. BGHR is better still. BGSFNO not so much.

BG MOFO, BGHR, and BGTG are my top three. Over BGSFNO and Sarsquatch. YMMV, as might your chopping medium.
