Baby Browning or Seecamp?

I have several guns in my collection that I can carry concealed. I have a Walther PPK, S&W 642, Glock 27, Kel-tec P32, but the one that I carry the most is a Kel-Tec .380 with a Fist Holster .

The others I carry IWB and can be unconfortable depending on what I wearing. But the Kel-Tec 380 in a pocket holster is so confortable that I don't even think about it. It's great for the summertime when I'm just wearing t-shirt and shorts. Another nice thing about pocket carry is that if I have to go in a place were CCW is a no-no(bank,govenment office, etc) I can easily slip it out of me pocket and leave it the the truck.

Some of the guys are quoting feed/reliability problems with the Keltec. How's yours been? I'm kinda interested in one of the P32's or P3AT's. Thanks, ADBF

my KT P32 has been 100%, and i have put about 500 rounds thru it, gold dots, silvertips and FMJ.

i have heard some of the 380s have probs though. not that some arent fine, and most of those with probs can be fixed, but they dont seem to be as reliable as the .32s not without work anyway.

I also owned a PPK/S (in .22 LR of German manufacture) that was a gem. Mine had MMC adjustable sights (a la the Skeeter Skelton article of 1970). The "Walther slide bite" caused me to sell mine.

The TPH is an excellent pistol, it's one of my favorite pocket pistols. The ones that were shipped with two magazines in the black plastic boxes (the early US ones were shipped in cardboard boxes with one mag) tended to be more reliable. I suspect the magazines were at issue with most problematic guns. I had hoped that S&W would manufacture the TPH for Walther, as they do now for the PPK series.

The have had the P32 longer and put a lot more rounds thru it. No probems, I can't even remember it jamming. I've put 150-200 rounds thru the P3AT with no problems. I also heard about some problems with the P3AT, but as I understand it was only with the first ones made. People that had the problems where able to send them in for a free repair. And all the ones made after that where fixed before they left the factory. If IRC the problem was a guide rod or guide rod spring or both.....something like that.

Thanks to fruitbat and sifu1A for the info on the Keltec pistols. They're looking more interesting all the time. I like the size/weight characteristics of that design, along with a better caliber than you used to be able to get with a mousegun. Gotta appreciate that light, slim little package in the pocket. Always there when you might need it.

Just thought I'd add my half-cent here...my dad owns a Keltec in .380 caliber, after having owned a Keltec in .32 for several years. He had to give up one round in the magazine, but he was telling me just this morning how much he prefers this gun over the .32. It fits in the same Kydex holster as his .32, and he's able to wear it in loose shorts without printing. Wears it everywhere that it is legal for him to carry (which is most everywhere in his state).

I'm thinking about getting one myself.

Take care,

Matthew

Welp! That does it fellas, I gotta go get one now. There's a gun show near here coming in September. I'll start saving my pennies now, and Im sure I'll be able to find a P32 or a P3AT up there. Mebbe both... :) Yeah, one of each. My wife won't mind.

when ya get it go the the KT forum, KTOG.net IIRC, they have instructions from KT how to smooth the action up, smooth the internals/etc, its what KT does if someone has probs with them IIRC. did it on my P32, even though i wasnt having probs, figured it couldnt hurt.

my neighbor has a seecamp .32 he has had since '94 or so, have shot it quite a bit thru the yrs, he paid like $350 or so for it, like my KT every bit as much (i think he does too lol) they are great guns for the $$ imho, the larger 9MM/etc also.

My vote for Seecamp hands down for a mouse gun. They come in .380 now and are the same size.

They are very handy & can have it all the time. Its a very reliable well made gun. As someone else posted. Be aware Winchester Silvertip has changed its specs. Hydra-shock is now their recommended .32 load.

Between the Baby Browning and a Seecamp,I'll take the Seecamp.I have one in .32acp and it functions every time, something I wish I could claim for the several kel-tec's and one bad (out of half dozen or so)Beretta 950BS's I've owned. My other suggestion ,if you'd like to go a little less money, would be a NAA Guardian.I had one of those and regret ever selling it.YMMV.tom. ;)

Just found this post....

Ihave the Keltec in both .32 and .380. Bought the .32 before they came out with the 380.

Haven't had any problems with either, but will admit that I haven't fired much more than 100 rounds through either of them. I fired enough to feel comfortable in controlling either of them. surprised at their accuracy for a pocket pistol.

Funny thing tho, if I wear the big leather jacket designed for cc, they get lost in there.

The 380 became my chl edc. The 32 just sits in the safe and will be traded or sold one of these days.

Did pickup one of the extended clip mags for the 32. The gun shows keep selling out of them for the 380 before I get there.

A friend that has a gun shop has ordered a Keltec 380 for every cop in the small town where he lives.

I had the same problem. I found mine on Ebay.

+1 for the Seecamp. I have other guns that I'd rather have with me if the SHTF but its the gun that's on you at the time that counts.

.32ACP may not be much to some folks but WW1 was started with 2 shots from a Browning in either .32ACP or .380 Short depending on the source. The 2 shots killed both the Archduke and his wife.

I've had my Seecamp for about 5 years now and never had it fail to fire or jam. Not much fun to shoot but you can carry it most anywhere with no one the wiser.

FWIW...

There are several renditions of a list named "The Rules of Gunfighting" on the internet and one of my very favorite "rules" is, "Bring a gun whose caliber starts with no less than a "4"!

i have seen pics of W_W ranger 9mm 147gr, .357SIG 125gr, .40 S&W 180gr & .45 ACP 230gr shot into ballistic gel from 25 feet IIRC and the channels were virtually indistinguishable, point being with good ammo all the srvice calibres are pretty close.

sure i would rather have a .45 if i knew i was gonna have to use it but i wouldnt worry at all if i had a 9MM with good modern ammo ie ranger 147gr or speer gold dot.

or course .32 or .380 is a little "iffy" (a lot??) but is better than nothing. of course a kahr PM9 9MM is so small/lite i never carry .32 or .380 any more, certainly not as primary anyway, its almost the same size as a PPK and actually a little liter.
