Baby CBK- My First JK Knife-W.I.P. DONE!

Pertinux asked how I got the handleshape in the "what traditional are you totin' thread", and basically I grasped the knife in hand when it was at this stage

and observed where my index figer fell on the handle, then took a 3/4 inch dowel with sandpaper glued to it and cut in a groove to match the angle my fingers gripped the handle at. Later I sanded the other surfaces to meet this groove, slowly and patiently till it felt good...

Thanks, Duane! I love seeing all these pictures, but appreciate the explanation.

You've done a tremendous job here. I, too, like how you've shaped the front of the handle for maximum comfort (and style points!) while keeping the "K."

I think this thread goes beyond "WIP" into,

How to make a great knife greater.

Thank you for taking the time to take, and share, the pictures with us. That is a beautiful knife, and you have paid it a great compliment with your finishing work! I have one on order myself, can't wait.

Beautiful work, Sir!

I knew this would be spectacular, but.....

Nice - the mosaic pins set it off wonderfully.

I don't know how it could be any better - it makes me want one of those knives!

Thanks again, Duane, for the work in process and congratulations on the great new JK!

best

That came out awesome! Great work, and good WIP pictures also.

Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That really turned out nice. Far nicer than I had expected and I'd expected a lot.
