Man, that looks like a good time. I was just checking out Hawk Mtn online the other day. It looks like a really cool place - thanks for sharing the pics.

Is that REALLY Hawk Mountain...or is it close to Hawk Mountain? Or Maybe Hawk Mountain Sanctuary takes up only part of a big big mountain. I can't imagine you could cut trees and build shelters on what I think of as Hawk Mountain.

Looks like a lot of fun Scott, I was bitching about getting firewood last night. I at least had a nice warm house to come in to.

I'm going to have to visit there this summer.

Looks like a great time guys.
Thanks for sharing the picts Scott.
I really have to get to Hawk Mountain soon.

Guess you guys has a good time.

I see a PSK, Mini Tusker, a Skookum, and others.

Whats the big knife on the left, and where's the big Tusker?

I had my WTK, PSK Jr. and the big one is my custom RTAK. No Tusker this trip. I wanted to play with the RTAK. Other blades were a Spartan, Skookum, custom bushcrafter, Western folder, 55 year old Boy Scout hatchet, another PSK Jr. and a BM Ritter.
We've used that parachute shelter numerous times. This was the best frame construction yet. We had it built, firewood gathered and fire started in less then 2 hours.

No Tusker this trip.

:eek::(;)

Where was the fire set up in relation to the shelter? Did you guys stay warm or wre you up all night?

Sorry for all the questions, I just find it interesting to here everyone's take on winter camping in cold temps.

I'ld be up for a winter camping trip in umm........... Florida:o

We had the fire about 4 feet in front of the shelter. We didn't keep it going all nite. Everyone did fine over nite. we had sleeping bags and foam pads. I actually enjoy winter camping the most.

Looked like a good trip, any heat reflector for the fire or was it more for a bit of bush tv then for heat.

I also noticed the big knife on the left, so that's a RTAK with a slight regrind and new handle slabs is it?

Great stuff Scott, everytime I see pics like these I wish I could be at one of these meet ups !!!
