Backpack advice requested

Check out Eberlestock. They make top tier packs that last forever. I have 3 and couldn’t be happier with them. If top loader is a no go they do offer packs that are both top and side load. Suspension system is adjustable, hip belts can be added/removed, and they offer a ton of choices.

I've not heard if them. I'll give them a look. Thanks for the info!

In the Switchblade model, some of the non-tactical colors like blue, remove the molle from the outside to be more discreet. I have the tactical version in dark earth (love it). The shoulder straps are adjustable up/down, and it does hold a folded AR if you are a firearms enthusiast. There is also a hidden pouch accessible from either side, that has a quick access held by magnets, and that pouch interior is female loop to hold anything in place you need quickly.

if you want to add a hip belt, there is an optional one, but I think I remember those being in limited colors.

It does fit in an airline overhead bin.

Checked that pack out. I was hoping this thread would make picking a pack out easy lol. Lots of great packs to choose from. thanks!

I'm not into tactical packs any more. This Mystery Ranch Coulee 25 is far more comfortable on a hike.

Are they tough? I want something that'll last a few years. Thanks!
Good question. They do sacrifice some toughness in order to save weight. I have a couple patches of Tenacious tape on the bottom of one of the packs, and the mesh pockets are not very abrasion resistant.

Thanks for the response. I'll have to look into them and see if they'll be durable enough for me. I'm tough on gear

I picked up both of mine on sale--just by looking around locally and online-----seems packs have become like clothes and you can get a deal on last year's model and since now I've become old and cheap, I really don't care about being fashionable.
