Backpack??

There's a tiny tag sewn into the inside that says "Made in China". That being said, i've been using one of these every day for the last few months. Carrying my 9lb. laptop, a knife (it's a fixed-blade Gerber, please don't hate me :) ) and my normal survival kit/supplies....

Sounds like a decent pack, actually.

it really is a pretty nice pack. especially at $29. my basic thought was that if i didn't like it, i could toss it and just skip going out to lunch a few times. It's a good size for me, and i'm 6', 190 lbs.

my bro just got one and he likes it too, but i don't know what he's using it for. we'll probably take them hunting at least once to see how they work out :)

Also, there's that 15% off until Monday, so at least it will take care of tax plus some. If anyone wants that coupon code, PM me - as I think it's against the TOU to post it, right?

I used to be die-hard Maxpedition fan, and dont get me wrong I still LOVE Max. but I have noticed that their bags are smaller than I need and I had to tone down the "tactical look" because it was just screaming "Hey focker I got a gun too", lol. So I purchased a Camelbak. The looks of the bag were awesome, and I know they are a quality company so I am used to experimenting :D so I bought one. It is by far the most comfortable backpack I have ever owned. I think I will keep this at least for a while.

I heard voices.....

I been recently using my MAXPEDITION FATBOY
SAM_2054.jpg

I've recently been looking into the Jumbo, which I realize is a bit bigger than the Fatboy. I have a question though. With the bag on your side, does it get in the way of your arm swinging while walking? One of the problems I can see.

Couple pics of my new Kelty Redwing 3100. It's bigger than you think. I'm 6' 2" and this is good size. Fits great. Not too heavy. Reasonable price. SOLD ! (LOL)

Thanks man. Been so busy lately and the weather has sucked, so haven't had a chance to get out with it. Give it a spin today hopefully.

here's my initial impression of my kifaru zxr: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/837192-review-kifaru-g2-zxr-backpack..

loaded it up with 50 lbs of weight and went hiking last friday, nothing sore at all the next day except for my legs (can't beat physics! 50 lbs is 50 lbs): http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/838969-the-quot-i-dare-yah-to-cross-that-bridge-quot-hike.

oh, man. we are definitely going to get really wasted on the next overnighter with this much weight capacity :D

Does not get in your way. However, for anything other than a really light day hike, you will do better with your water in a small hydration backpack. By design, this puts all the weight on one shoulder. With 24oz water and a G19 with a full mag, knife, fire kit, FAK, tarp, etc. this gets heavy around the 5 mile mark.

But it makes a great EDC lunchbox and a good camera / tourist bag.

I would love to hear what you think about it....
Okay, my LA Police Gear 3 Day Pack came in today. It would have arrived sooner, but I'd been waiting on the regular & jumbo Bail Out Bags to restock (in Coyote). Finally gave up and cancelled those, so I could get the pack, sooner.

Straight and to the point, this pack is fantastic for the price. Honestly, I think it'd be great for a bit more.

I was not expecting the material to be so thick & strong. The Coyote color is really nice. Straps galore. Can hold a bladder. Has a removable waist belt. The fasteners look more solid than on packs where I've paid over $100.

It is a steal. Will be getting a few more, for sure.

If this quality for the price is any indication of how the rest of their line is, it's no wonder the Bail Out Bags are out of stock (in Coyote, again, a very nice rich color).

I'll say it again, the pack's fantastic. Highly recommend.

Sorry, forgot to take a pic of the bottom. It has three straps across the bottom for sleeping bag, etc.. .

Can't wait to try it out.:thumbup::thumbup:

Just ordered a Camelbak military H.A.W.G. pack, should be here next week. Looking forward to using and abusing it on the trails around here. 100oz. water capacity is a nice upgrade from my old 70oz. which I usually drain before I'm done hiking. The coyote color looks like it would be relatively unobtrusive on our trails. I'll throw up some pics when it shows up.

Maybe look at the 5.11 rush 24 or rush 72, I been eyeing them packs for a while now.

Think I will be getting a multicam one soon....

Never had a problem, it will swing behind to your back, its actually pretty comfortable.
I use mine for hunting and cover miles with this bag....

WOW! That thing looks NICE! Looks just like my Condor II, but a LOT less money!

..

I like the size of the rush 12 for a grab -N- go bag.
Also Kelty has nice gear but I havent found a pack that fits me well.

I guess Ill quit lurking and make my first post :-)
I picked up a Kelty Red Cloud 110 (the new version of the 6650) and I really like it. I haven't gotten to field test it yet, but its got enuff room for everything I could ever want/need to pack for a multiple day trip, and compression straps to shrink it down if I pack light. Its a big pack, but its also has an internal backpack compartment, which is approx 1/4 of the volume of the main bag compartment. Last years model is on clearance ALL over the internet for a GREAT bargain. Search Amazon or Google for Kelty Red Cloud 6650) if youre interested. I think around 110 is the cheapest.
Hope this helps
Mike

I'd highly recommend the Camelbak Trizip. It is a good size, lightweight, lifetime warranty, 3L bladder included and tough as nails.

Oh, and at certain online retailers it's quite on sale :D

Do the compression straps go across the sides or across the front?

They go across the front. Their are no side compression straps. Also, the harness system is a Mystery Ranch design, which IMO is quite nice. PM for the best pricing.
