Backpacker knife from Ray Laconico

man.. those knives are cool... i remember when matthew snatched that first one up...:o

i need to get another knife from ray...:)

Thanks to tknife for posting these pics and thanks to everyone for all the great comments. The blade length on the bottom knife is about 3 3/4 and the top one is just a tad longer. The top knife will be in the for sale section today. I'm just going to take some better pictures of it to post. These are the first of this kind of sheath that I've ever made and I really like the way they turned out. There's already a few things I can think of to add to make it even better. I'm loving kydex.

By looking at them I'd never think they were your first kydex sheaths, they came out perfect. They suit this knife nicely too I think, and the holes give some flexibility in carry options.

The Laconico arrived, talk about fast. This thing is sweet!

How much does it weigh? Does the maker advertise it as a Backpacking Knife, or is that just your intended purpose?

I'm a big fan of Ray Laconico's from what I've seen of his in the forums, but I'm not sure whether I'd want to pack that knife. Maybe if it's very small and the weight is under 3 oz...

The original one he made was called something like the lightweight hiker/backpacker model. I'm not sure of the weight, but it feels pretty light in hand, especially considering how beefy it looks.

that's a great looking knife T.... i really like rays work... i'm jealous once again...:o

Got mine yesterday. It's going to pair up with my EDC Taurus for awhile. I like the way Ray did the kydex sheath. It holds secure, yet does not add those kydex streaks to the blade.

Nice pic  Ray did a really nice job on these, and like you said the sheath is well thought out too. I like the thin piece of Kydex that covers the screws protecting the blade. The small details count.

Hatchet, great pic! Be prepared to fall in love with that knife. You might as well start having your paycheck deposited in Ray's account. :)
