Bad Day

This is completely off topic, but since this is also kind of a support group, I figured I would share this with you all.
So for the past 4 months, I have been working on a business plan to open a shop. I had an investor that had me doing all of the work and we would be equal partners. Everything was going great, I was doing all of the labor and market research on the shop, they were sitting back and watching. I had to jump through a ton of hoops for them.
Yesterday, I was told that my numbers for the business wouldn't work and that they were not going to open the shop. I turns out they adjusted my numbers to make it show no profit.
And now they are opening my shop without me! I did all the work. I spoke with the building owner who were were getting the lease from, he told me they told him three weeks ago that they were not including me in this business!!! Mean time, they had me looking up more information and getting things ready for the business even though they knew they were giving me the boot. They figured they can be 100% owner and make all the profits. Even though the shop was my brainchild.
So I called them on it today, they back tracked and blamed other people and basically lied to me about everything.
Unfortunately all I can do is rant a little about this, and I can't even say who the company is because they would probably sue me. So, I have no job now, have no means of an income, I am getting married this summer and trying to close on a house. So I am having a bad day. Thought I would let my support group here know about it! ;-) Sorry if none of what I wrote makes any sense, I am really mad right now.

Man that sucks big time, sorry to hear it buddy !

On the bright side, there are lot's of dark alleys and Walmart has baseball bats on offer !!!!

Wow, Oregon Knife Guy, you have my sympathy. I went through a similar thing years ago, so I have some idea of how you must be feeling. Did you have anything in writing (a letter of intent, for instance)?

I Feel for ya, Bro.

Thanks guys!
Pit-The grand father of a friend of mine, told me for $20 he would take out their knee caps. haha, he is 85.
I haven't got anything in writing that shows any intent, just emails of them requesting numbers from me. They can deny any and all of what was promised, and I cant do a thing.
So for now, it's back to the drawing boards and trying to find some means of an income before I get married. It really sucks when you put your trust into someone, and they let you down.

Well, look at it this way, they just opened and already lost their first customer.

Best of luck to ya OKG. Hope karma pays them a visit.

No business plan survives its first contact with its customer base. :)

Wait till they open up and need to make it happen in the real world, that they didn't know how to set up in the first place. When I made supervisor in the post office, we used to say the bosses promoted their friends -- but they also promoted a few of us who actually got the job done, so the place wouldn't fall apart. Your "partners" didn't promote the one who got the job done ...

So much for them, now what about you? Job opportunities? Maybe the kind of business plan you put together would make a good Exhibit A in a resume to show to a prospective employer. In any case, don't get discouraged. The right job will come calling when you're ready for it. You weren't meant to be working with back-stabbers.

I sympathize with your situation. Just a warning though, one of the mods has been rather displeased at seeing non W&SS related complaints going here. I suggest adding some W&SS to cover youself against infraction. Wouldn't want a bad day getting even worse....

edit - and it wasn't Esav ;)

E-mail is discoverable and admissible in court, and it never goes away. Just sayin.'

KGD- This is a survival related issue, it is not wilderness survival issue, but more of an every day, real world survival issue, isn't it? Most of us are trying to figure out how to survive not only in the wilderness, but in a pour economy like this, some of us are trying to survive day to day.
Just to cover my A$$, what do you guys recommend here? An axe or using the baton method??? Cause I am going to take some anger out on a dead tree! haha

what they did totally sux and I hope their bs revisits them ten-fold!!

an axe is generally better for stress relief in general, but batonning will really focus your mind on something else.

I recommend not taking anger out with sharp objects.
One slip and you'll have something worse to be angry about.

I wonder, as one poster said earlier, that you might be able to sue thier socks off for breach of contract. If you have any documentation, it might be worth your time to seek legal representation....

just sayin...

Sorry to hear the misfortune . I would print all emails relating to this subject (inquiries on building, site, anything showing the leg work you did) and statement from building owner & talk to a Lawyer to see if there is any recourse. Good luck to you !

Problem is there was no contract yet. We were getting close to that, but haven't gotten that far.
Esav, you have a valid (though not fun) point.

Ok ,but what about small talk amongst email between you guys refer to the work & said Job ? It should cost you anything or much for a lawyer to look it over to see if it is worth pursuing. Sometime life lesson come at a bad time Brother.
