Bad Day

Knife Guy the situation really sucks , but don't let it get you to far down you have other important things on you plate., chalk it up as a bad learning experience and Drive 0n. Sounds like you had all the passion for the business anyway, you were willing to do the hard work . Now you have experience in settinng up a shop , a valuable skill for when you open yours . keep the fire burning my friend .

Hey Oregon Knife Guy,

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. OTOH, better to find out what kind of cutthroats the bast***s are now, rather than later, when a lot more work had been done and money tied up.

If I lived in Oregon, I would get you to email me the details of the company so they could go on my personal sh*t list, but since I don't, I really can't be of any help, unless, of course, it's a mail order business.

Lenny Bruce used to say that sooner or later, everybody pays their dues. I believe that and it's a consolation at times.

Anyway, best of luck to you, bro. Things will get better.

Doc

What he said.

I wish you notheing but the best of luck bro!

Send them an invoice for your services at a good rate - good for you, that is. Then send it to a collection agency if they don't pay. That's a good start.

I am probably going to do that! I have been thinking about it, and will send them a bill.
I just hope something works out in my interest soon. I am hurting on the job front because of this one, I had all of my eggs in one basket, which pisses me off, because I know better than that. It just creates a lot of stress, especially at a time like this---(getting married and my fiance buying a house)

As the owner of several businesses and a partnership, I've come to the conclusion that partnerships rarely work, there are some pretty basic human flaws that surface when you put a lot of money and work in front of a group of people... As corny as it sounds, I find that my greatest successes occur when I follow my vision and intuition and don't compromise a lot... Just my .02

Boy this was not nice, so its time to not be nice.

If you have any plans in your writing or an outline of your ideas, this is your creative porperty. if you had thought up a cute, catchy, singing little name for the shop get it trade marked or copy writed ot atleast keep any papers that may have this on them.

when the store opens, sue their @$$es off for theft of creative property.

write down all your time for 'research" and charge a healthy rate.

SCREW THEM, have a nice day. Pat

PS you get the idea, take it from here.

IMO I'd hold off on the 'getting married and buying a house part', until you have a solid income stream. Otherwise it'll just add to your (lack of) income problems. Weddings aren't cheap, divorces still more expensive, and buying a house without a job or income stream, well that's just plain insane these days IMO.

If it makes you feel any better I had some real slick suckers up in CT part me from 25K of my hard earned:barf:, and they have yet to make good on their end of it:thumbdn:. Next stop CT State Attorney's office in a few weeks when I get up that way:mad:

I agree with billing them for your time at a healthy rate. If you have emails requesting numbers, then you have emails requesting that you work. Let them deal with a collection agency if need be. If they don't pay, they can explain to potential lenders in the future why their credit rating is in the tank.
