bad deal

it may have been taken via pm prior to your post.

but he still should have comunicated in some fashion.

16 mins after i said id take he he says hes emailing him right now.. and then just completly ignores me, i sent an email at the same time also, ignored too

Disappointing deal, but unless a seller specifies first call gets it, he is completely free to favor a particular buyer. This may be someone with whom he's dealt before or simply knows and trusts from the forums.

Also, his circumstances seem to have changed, needing to move both knives together, and Talfuchre was there willing to take them.

Lots of knives on sale, don't let one deal get you down.

You also did make the post with this proviso:
I'll take the mikro canadian II if its the stainless version, any chance of a pic also ?

While Talfuchre said:
I will take the Micro Canadian II in either steel and likely take the Mikro TUSK.
This happens quite often. People ask for pics or extra specs, but if the next guy says "I'll take it", it usually goes straight to them. Losing a sale because you took the time to send pics etc to the first poster, waited for them to get back to you, and then possibly have them then change their mind (This isn't aimed at you bruss, just a general observation I've made from the sale threads here) is a bummer.

While this might all be true...the knife WAS STainless...so basically he said he would take it! I thought he got a bit shorted...bruss, dont let it bother you...another deal will come along.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. My main point was that he asked for pictures and I've often seen this kind of first poster passed over for the next guy that says "I'll take it" sight unseen.
Whether I agree with this action is neither here nor there, it's just something I've witnessed often and it seems to be the norm.

1tracker sold both knives to the best choice! the op is a newb, has no feedback from the itrader or tgbu. and was kind of iffy. the gold member has positive feedback, and bought both knives.

sounds like a good dealio to me!

op-open a thread in whine and cheese. you shouldn't give bad feedback for a no deal. bad form.

ps- esav nailed it!

pss- "This is your area to tell about your experiences (Good or Bad) with dealers, sellers, and individuals you've bought, sold, and traded with." straight from the top of the page of all tgbu threads.

Guys, just like anyone here, he is free to share his experience on this forum, new guy or not.

I also want to point out that all of you were new at one time, and you have to start someplace. Think back about how grateful you were when the seller gave you the benefit of the doubt on that first deal.

Also think back about how disappointed, and upset you were when someone didn't give you the benefit of the doubt because you had no feedback, ect.

Bruss,
Do not let this get you down. You will get great bargains here. Shake this one off, and keep hunting. Welcome to Blade Forums by the way!

A long time ago I went after a deal pretty much the same way. I asked a clarifying question on a knife. The next guy got it with "I'll take it".:grumpy:

Really pissed me off...for a long time. At least until I got the same knife (an A. G. Russell Sting) for even less. :D

A stated "I'll take it" always wins.

The same knife...or one even better, will come along. :)

Ah yes, I can see from both the sellers and buyers perspective here.

I've been in tough spots before with cash and needing that instant payment always over-rules any choice that I make. I can see that selling both knives together was a better deal than selling them seperately which gained the seller what he needed for another payment.

From the buyers perspective it always looks and feels terrible having the guy second in line get first dibbs. Knowing that you would take the knife as stainless would have been an instant sale but would have left him with a single knife to hope and pray that somebody else would take it by itself.

However, none of us know what went on in that email. talfuchre could have said a dozen "I'll take it's" and he is a very reliable buyer/trader here. So, the seller being in a tight spot made a choice that was right for him.

There's always a better deal out there, just keep an eye peeled. I always say "I'll take it" and just 15 minutes later on the exchange is that dream knife that I just missed out on. There's plenty of fish in the sea ;)

Good luck fishing, J. :D

bruss, why dont you pay $10. for a basic membership and work on building up your itrader points. also you dont have your profile filled out and nobody knows anyhing about you. i myself am leary of dealing with someone that doesnt have their profile filled out. did you ever consider this?

It's the nature of the internet...

As a seller, I've had many folks say I'll take it and fail to pay (or ever respond again.) Some of them ask you to hold it for a month until they have the money, etc. Sometimes they offer you a ridiculous trade like a made-in-China no-name balisong for a carbon fiber Spyderco. I've had others get mad because they were second or third in line, but thought they were first.

As a buyer, I have had many sellers here fail to respond to a question by email. The traders often ask for very lopsided deals. Sometimes the knife you get doesn't match up with the description.

Overall, the people who have been around a while are good people. I had a business going on Ebay for a few years and the people there are downrigth crazy compared to here. The sense of community and passion for a shared hobby really helps. I like it here, but when business things aren't great, i don't take it personally - at least I try not to.

thanks for the replys guys, things worked out for the best as i managed to pick up a para id been looking for..which incidentaly i paid for within 30 mins of saying id take it, looking back i think i over reacted by starting this thread but i was kind of annoyed..im not gonna hold a grudge and hope i can do business with all of you guys..its a good forum and im enjoying the wealth of knowledge on tap here, i'll pay the $10 and join too

That's great bruss. I completely understand your frustration and reaction, especially when it's your first time buying and you feel that disappointment.
You sound like a smart, levelheaded guy, so I'm glad you are going to stick around.
Plus the para is a great knife:thumbup:
