Bad sounds

I love the sound of carbon steel scraping over the stones. Stainless, even though I prefer it, never has the same sound. GEC's 440C has a particularly great sound and feel (hard to separate them) when snapping closed: buttery smooth to a very satisfying click as the kick bounces off the backspring.

There's a TV chef that uses the edge of her knife to scrape the cutting board. Drives me crazy. I can only imagine what the poor guy who has to maintain her knives must go through...
Many of these TV 'chefs' do that and it shows appalling ignorance  What do they think the spine of the knife is foe? (to admire their image in ....)

Coworker - “can I borrow your knife”
Me - “sure”

Clack.

Me “coworker WTF did you just do?”
Coworker - “sorry this pie has a hard crust”

Cutting pecan pie sitting in a glass pie dish

Jack Jack Black Jack Black The only way around that is to carry a piece of junk or my way is to answer "why, what do you need to cut?" and then cut it myself.

I do the same Alan, I just say, "What do you want to cut?" Then if it's not something completely stupid, (which it sometimes is), I do it

I was once in a bar in Barcelona, and a woman asked me if her boyfriend might borrow my knife. When I asked what he wanted it for, it turned out he wanted to use it to clean dog mess off his shoe!! And no, I did not do it for him! 🤨🤣
