Bad Things Happen

also its very hard to win anything out of a false imprisonment/arrest case in civil action-in tx anyway-my best bud th world had gotten a traffic tickit in seguin, tx - he did not pay it in the allotted time (it was for $83) so a warrant was issued - after about 3 months, he contacted the city atty, and found out the amount+warrant fee, and sent them a money order - a few months later they tried to pick him up at work (he works for dyncorp, a civilian defense contractor, at randolph AFB)but a friendly airfoorce SP told him the cops were looking for him about a traffic warrant, so he left the base, thinking it was about the ticket in seguin - he got home, and called the city atty office, and started explaining the situation - they evidently had caller ID and while they talked to him on the phone, they called the officer, who was just leaving the AFB, and he went to his apt, about 5 min away, knocked on the door, and arrested him when he answered it(wow he shouldnt have answered it should he?) anyway he goes tojail, even though he has the money order reciept in his hand - he called me and i drove up to get him out of jail - due to an administrative error, they THOUGHT he had to go before a judge - he actually didnt - so they told me they couldnt release him until morning - he got out the next morning when a clerk found that the ticket had, in fact, been paid - so he spent 18 hours in jail, was forced to flee work, was "deloused" (told him he probably needed that LOL) and strip searched, and issued the typical county jail garb w/sandals - said he about froze to death - got a bologna sandwich and an apple in the evening, and a small box of corn flakes, and a pint of milk for b-fast - he found a lawyer to take the case, they sued, and finally settled out of court for about $900 - the city initialy offered about $100 if memory serves - but not much $$ for all the hassle, even w/a free 'delousing' thrown in for good measure lol - anyway a good story, and true,,,,,,,,
