Badass fixed blade for camping usage

If you want a real badass tool for camping I think you misspelled it.

It's spelled A X E. Axes are really badass. You can split a zombie in two with one...and you can also chop firewood.

Seriously, if you want a good functional knife buy a Mora Clipper or Craftsman and spend the money you save on a good hatchet or axe. If that idea doesn't work for you then I think Baba nailed it with the Buck Nighthawk suggestion. If you want to amuse yourself you can watch Noss destroy one here: http://www.knifetests.com/page20.html

Yeah im probably considered a knife noob. But I still think that dark op is extremely badass looking. If only it was $50 and better quality maybe...

The Dream: the ZT100 is what i use as my camping knife. it just happens to be tactical too. it is not cheap.

The Reality: you make a request of a "badass tactical" camping knife, and then you say your budget is $50? looking at the postings, i can't be sure whether you want a knife to play with rather than a tool for camping...

fortunately for you some here have taken your request seriously and made some nice recommendations...

still, if you're hellbent on $50 badass, you can find it...i see them even less then $50 in Big 5 sporting goods ads...they will be brands you may have never heard of, but they will be badass tactical knives...branding is overrated anyways; Looks are Everything...

What ^^^^^^ said:thumbup:

Drop the money on a sawback Horton at 1/3" thick and never look back:D Jeremy is a great guy, and makes a killer knife!

Swedish Moras make great camp knives.

If you have a higher budget, the Scrapyard Scrapper 5 ($130.00), the Scrapyard SOD ($175.00) or the Busse Bushwacker Battle Mistress ($347.00)

Badass-looking enough for ya? Cold-Steel machetes give the most "badassitude" for the buck, IMHO. And they actually work.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, genuinely high-quality piece, Imacasa is the word. They make excellent machetes- the most "badass" (tacti-cool) looking one is this, their "Rambo" machete. $12.99 with sheath. You'll have to put the edge on yourself though- which is easily done with a mill file.

I would agree with the RAT RC6. Fallkniven S1 or A1 would be another good choice.

The current Busse offering would also have to be considered Badass.

Even with all the kidding and hating on tacticool camp knives, I am sure that there is one out there for you... For me, a bad ass knife is a traditional knife -but hey, enjoy whatever TF you want!

Look into Ontario's Spec Plus knives. The quartermaster is probably one you would like.

I would also check out SOG knives -they have a high value line now.

I don't know where you go camping. But I know the places i go would not be happy with a baddass tactical knife being carried around. Especially the State Parks. But some people don't mind getting in trouble as long as they get attention.

Not sure if any of these are badass enough but for camping...

Ontario Spec Plus
KaBar Heavy Bowie
Mora knives
Condor Combat Machete

For camping you could use a well made tomahawk. Most are not too expensive and you can became quit good at multi tasking with some practice!

The gerber camp axe comes with the small knife in the handle. Great compact tool!
