Badass fixed blade for camping usage

Ahhh, Baba. Not to pick nits, but is that not the Gerber Gator Combo Axe? Reason I say, is they make one called the "Camp Axe" without a knife.

Are there any quality fixed blade knives for camping?

Requirements are:

badass (tactical looking)

high quality steel/handle

blade length about 5~7"

comes with a sheath (preferably leather, but nylon is OK)

For under $70 this is pretty good:

(KA-BAR Becker BK7)

But if you want something really Badass then get a knife with an 11.5" blade that can actually do some real work:

(KA-BAR Kukri Machete)
And when you order it add a Mora or similar with a ~4" blade for a utility knife. The Kukri + Mora should cost under $60 and as well as mega Badass looking you will have a VERY useful combo for camping. When your friend shows you his mean looking tactical 7" blade knife you just show him your 11.5" blade Kukri and see which looks meaner! The bigger knife ALWAYS looks more Badass!

If you want a real badass tool for camping I think you misspelled it.

It's spelled A X E. Axes are really badass. You can split a zombie in two with one...and you can also chop firewood.

Seriously, if you want a good functional knife buy a Mora Clipper or Craftsman and spend the money you save on a good hatchet or axe. If that idea doesn't work for you then I think Baba nailed it with the Buck Nighthawk suggestion. If you want to amuse yourself you can watch Noss destroy one here: http://www.knifetests.com/page20.html

LOL, good point. Man this thread has grown since the last time I was online!

That one is totally awesome, to bad its $130 :(

dark ops is for you..................

if you decide to give up on the tacticool ninja toys try a real knife
becker bk2 bk7 or bk9
rat cutlery rc4 5 or 6
scrapyard SOD

Step one: Buy a bread knife (Extreme serrations with Surgical Steel!)
Step two: Spray paint it Black (Badass Tactical!)
Step three: Put some paracord on it somewhere (Hard duty survival camping!)

There you go, a knife that fulfills all your requirements with plenty of cash to spare!

Sorry, I couldn't resist :D

First step, buy a Mora. Second step use the hell out of it. During this process you'll learn what YOU yourself really need a knife for. You might decide you want something a bit longer for certain tasks, or a bit heftier, hell maybe even SMALLER, who knows... Then, using this information, shop around for what you want/need.

Buy a KA-BAR Becker BK7
Why? Because it is a badass 7" blade knife that is made from one of the best steels known to man (1095 CroVan).

Here's mine looking all dark & brooding:

It's blacker than Darth Vader's heart and it looks totally cool, it also cuts, chops & batons like a champ! It came 'shaving sharp' and it cost less than $70.

Now I want one. Thanks a lot Gadgetaholic...on second thought I'll hold out for the magnum camp.
