Bag of Evil and contents

Well thought out kit Mercop. Im currently in the process of putting together two packages, one BOB and an edc kit with essentials, knife, light, GPS and things like that.

I've never really been into the Urban survival side of it all, but do you guys see a Standard that a knife should be up too?, I see many with a Not huge knife, but over sized for sure. Would it not be easier and stronger to carry a medium wonder bar and folder? Or is the Sharpened prybar the way to go?

I have done a lot of stuff under stress with the Tac Tool and just trust it.

Drug the Murse into the wild Sunday...

Multiple attachment points allow for, well; multiple attachments :o.

There is a map/compass/gloves/flashlight/etc. pocket that clips to the front of the bag, that
can be clipped to the opposite shoulder strap to put those items up-front-accessible.

I need to be stopped...

Does anyone carry a tampon for GSW/Knife wounds? I am loving the idea of a messenger bag but I don't like how deep they are. I am wondering if I could sew a zipper in the middle to make a 'subfloor' kind of thiing so I could put the least used items in the bottom and zip it shut so I have easier access to the rest?

Esav, I have the production Cop Tool (not the original). Good piece of kit for its intended purpose. The serrations were a bit dull and had to be sharpened. It was harder than I thought to do that, even with a Sharpmaker. However, overall I like it. I bought several. They will replace Countycom 7" prybars in my small kits.

This is all very interesting.

Mercop, I have the exact same bag, found at a Supply Sargent in Burbank, for $17. We use it as a baby diaper bag. :)

I always carry a Maxpedition "Fat Boy" Versapack as my go bag. It's getting a bit small for my purposes so I'm thinking of getting a Maxpedition Colossus.

Nice one!

Its pretty funny - I too have taken the long backpack - messenger bag route, stopping for lunch at Fatboy diner along the way. :D

Funnily enough I was about to purchase the very same messenger bag you mentioned from that exact site when one turned up for sale at a local camping/outdoor gear store. It was almost exactly what I wanted except for the color but the price was too good to pass up so I grabbed it.

I have carried it for about two months now and found it to be an excellent piece of gear, and a great way of transporting a large amount of gear around every day.

Its pretty funny because these bags are ridiculously cheap compared to the milspec nylon products and go way back in time, but the fact is, they work and canvas is much more comfortable to tote around daily than heavy duty nylon.

I don't have pics of my load-out handy but I will snap the bag and contents later when I get home.

Great thread. I just ordered a black one, which saves me $$ if it works because I have been looking at Maxpedition products. I figure it will also pass as a briefcase for my desk job, so it will be used daily. Thanks!

I find canvas much nicer than nylon and it wears much much better once it gets old.

Some of those bags look a might bit heavy for EDC. I like to have a small EDC bag and an emergency bag in my truck. I use a Alpinstars pack in the summer because I ride a bike 99% of the time the weather allows and a smaller purse sized bag in winter for phone ,multitool ,sunglasses ,gloves ,lighter etc.

^ yea my 1430 case fully loaded is a piggy. it rides in the truck (does not stay there, it WILL get stolen) or goes with me into office buildings. I just like the fact that it is waterproof, dust proof, mud proof, crush proof and i can sit on it as a seat.

I do have a daily EDC bag, its a waterproof messeger bag.

pics once they load, photobucket is SLOW tonight.

River-8, whatever you do, do not go into the gear making business, I would be a poorer man than I am now.

The bag I have been using lately is my Kifaru E&E, or an Eagle Creek messanger that is pretty small, I like it because it has a zipper and a flap.

Have you handled a Cop Tool yet?

Check out the coincidence on this search:

:D

I own an original from Wilson Tactical (back when it was only $99). It's a good tool, cuts straps quick and clean, rough scraps "stuff", goes through thin metal. I've never pried a car door open tho :D. It came good and sharp, the D2 has stained over the years and the sheath is getting sloppy. Can't say if the Boker version would be as good. But as a tough, little knife meant for rough work, it works great.

River-8, man, that's a hell of a bag. I keep *almost* making myself one, then looking at my shop work board and deciding I have to work.

I have two main satchels I bounce back and forth between. One is, of all things, a Fox Dogma model messenger bag. The black one they discontinued a year and a half ago.

It's pretty cool, and the rear access zipper makes me really happy. BUt it's often a bit much in the width department and I revert to my old bladeforums emblazoned caribou coffee brown shapeless bag.

Someday, I'll find something Exactly In Between that holds my kleen canteen, yaesu, and phone all secure and outside the main flap.

I see these style bags all the time, usually with a Red Star, a Che face, an Obama button, or all the above.

MERCOP, what is the weight of your B.O.E. ? (the one you listed and the one on your site)

i have about 75% less gear and my BOE is killing my shoulder......both my Pelican 1430 case BOE and my HSGI Armadillo bag......

I pared mine down a bit, i dont need 5 Israeli bandages or 20 bars of hi energy protien bars, LMAO

the water sure is heavy though, I really notice it if i take out the liter of water. Pulled two fixed blades out of the bag, lost about a 1lb there....
