Sorry to bring this thread back up but when I came home today there was a package from Bill what can I say the guy keeps his word the knife I have been calling the Bagwell Alamo bowie was in the box.
I will admit I had some reserve about this knife having a crown stag handle but the blade although distinct Bagwell style had a certain look that kinda set it apart from the rest.
All of my reservations where quickly put to rest and I know why Bill wanted to keep this piece it is on the money when it comes to feel and pics do not show the merits of this handle like looking and holding it in person.
The knife has a very light feel for it's size and actually does not seem as large as it's dimensions dictate. The blade is 11 inches long 1.75 wide with a hefty distal taper to it.
The handle is about 6 inches long and the crown actually turns in and is polished smooth so the standard problem with a piece of stag with the burr left on which is catching on things like clothes and printing or leaveing an overly pronounced signature are not a problem as much as you would imagine. This was a huge concern of mine. You could cover this handle is STP and it would still have a problem slipping out of your hand.
I am a huge fan of straight carbon blades but I can really apreciate Kevin Jones love of damascus and this blade is realy peaking my interest. The cable damascus and shape of the blade have a very menaceing look to it and what can I say I am tickled pink with it and I am thankful to Bill for giving it up to me.
I know there have been alot of pics on this thread but I can't help but to post some more.
